Kia Ora Jason, really appreciate the mention. Great idea on individually packaging them yourself, and a good excuse to drink more hot chocolate.

This is very cool. Here in Germany the brand of choice is Esbit. Not shaped as a cube, more like a domino. They are packed in a paper box only - so this a cool way to divide it into “rations” 😊 Thanks Jason! Cheers to all!

@@kaidzaack2520 i have seen esbit. I think they are slightly different. Heximine Tablets for cooking. They have double the burn time. And ate a bit more expensive here i got a small pack of 24 for $13.00 New Zealand dollars . I wanted to try them for making a hot drink. Testjng them for a camping option. That will be a Future video. Great to see you. I see on the News here Flooding in Europe. Hope you guys in Germany are Ok? Danke Brother! 😎🤘

@@jasonedwardledburynewzeala9897 Thank you bro! All good here (at least in Hesse, where I live…). Yes, esbit stoves are used by many armies for heating up their field rations (Germany, France, Spain…). I can gladly send you some foldable stoves. Would need your street Adresse. BTW: this stuff burns not odor free. So for cooking it might be weird for some people (slight gasoline smell) 😉

Using the mylar cany wrappers to seal your fire cube is a good idea. I will order some Samba fire starters. The cheapest fire starters I use is fire paste made with pieces of a styrofoam cup added to common gasoline in a small glass jar. It works great in snow or very wet conditions . Perfect for lighting a Coleman or similar stove. Thanks for your video and input, Jason . All the best.

I was wanting to make D.I.Y fire Gel. I saw Styrofoam with acetone. Soap and gasoline. There some different variations. Thanks for stopping by brother.😊👍

@QuantumPyrite_88.9 Gas & styro works great and the user can remove as much as they need . I works great for the Optimus stoves , as well as Coleman . Nothing but a very small amount of ash is left.

Awesome idea Jason 🙌🏻 I wonder if you could seal those packages in sections by heating up a pair of needle nose pliers over fire and crimping if that would make a seal. I have done that to seal ends of straws for making small waterproof containers Definitely a great flame 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 and even in water 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Thanks for sharing this idea Jason 🤗❤️‍🔥🙏🏻🤟🏻

The Samba ones like that are only good for a few days once the packet is opened. IE open them a light a fire with a cube,, the rest of the pack will loose the volatiles in the next week or so and be useless. So breaking them up and storing them is a good idea if you can. If i am forced to use them, i put 2 or 3 cubes in those little tiny resealable plastic bags. The blister pack like you have there are a much better option, you can cut them up into individual pieces if you need to carry a few, but they are very fragile, the foil rips easily. I prefer the individually foil wrapped versions, they last a long time and seem to be reasonably robust. I think they are about $6 for a box of 40 here in Australia.
