Cheap guitars have come such a long way over the last decade. Squier's are now as good as Fender's and you get so much for your money. We compare the Ibanez SR300e to the Squier Vintage Modified Precision bass, both of which are around £300 new but can be pickup up for well under £200 on the used market.

​@@tupac1759E is newer bass and have another pickups sone people will say E is better and some will tell that sr300 is better.. if you want buy new, the will be hard to find the sr300 model or you can always buy used. But for that money it's better to buy E from store

to compare with sr300e , u need at least a fender mexico or put on some gears for the squier lol

I’m probably in the minority but I’d prefer the squier. And also prefer it to only have one pickup. Just love the P bass pickup sound

You definitely do NOT need a mexican fender to compare with the sr300. The higher end squiers are just as good if not better than the mexican standards. Plus, these are all passive fender style bass guitars so you really should compare the ibanez sr300 to a S.U.B.bass which is an entry level musicman with the one humbucker and the active eq.

You guys are seriously comparing a traditional, classic bass with P and J pickups with passive electronics to a modern take with 2 humbuckers and active EQ + 3-way power tap switch. Ahham.. Very fair :D

Good point. Similar price point though. For me I use a passive P bass style instrument on every single recording (that cat bass) as you just can’t beat the P bass sound. I hate all these fancy electronics and switches. I did put EMGs and a fancy Active EMG pre-amp in a bass and hated it. The sound was fine but just far too complicated. I do have boring taste though. Which one did you like most?

@@PherotoneStudios I have to be honest - I am playing VERY varied music and haven't got enough money to have multiple basses or to have just one Fender so I bought this SR300E which is cool, slim and versatile as hell. But yes, I dislike the overcomplication and the fact that it needs a battery. I would gladly get a P bass. In fact, I am looking for a fretless P but for some reason (at least here in Hungary) they are completely out of stock (the Squier ones I'd like to get at least) which is extremely annoying. No 70s, no 60s in fretless.

Why are fender basses so damn ugly. No comparison in my mind. I’m a huge Ibanez sr fan. I own 3 of them. I find the fender heavy and thick body. Very ugly headstock
