That's great mate, I was given one of these today. The batteries were installed in 2014 according to the menu, and they seem to be OK, but it is great to know that replacements are reasonably affordable.

If you live in Australia Bunnings sell Century battery 1270L which fits and has the tsame terminal connections that you require

Excellent video my friend. I have just ordered the "APC SMT750IC Smart-UPS", hopefully in the future I will be able to do this🙂 So shocked that APC are selling cheap "Long" batteries as their own at a higher price when you can get better batteries for way less than APC's price. Thank you so much for taking the time to show us how to swap them out, hopefully APC hasn't made too many changes in their latest units to allow us to do the same🤞👍

Thanks! I believe that packs are the same for 750/750i/750ic

I have the same UPS but when I replaced the battery it was still telling me that the battery reached its end of life and has a remaining time of 0 minute. I finally realized that I had to swap the battery while the UPS was POWERED ON so it could be aware that the battery was replaced.

Great tutorial, many thanks. Does the fan only work during a power cut or it is spinning when it charges the batteries? Does it make any noise like humming or high frequency noise at any point? Can the display be turned off or dimed?
@ANTandTEC4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! 🙂 The model I used in the video did not have a built in fan. During charging there was no noise from the unit. When supplying power via battery, there is a slight hum but not loud at all. Also, my model did not have the option to shut off the display. I believe that the newer models do. Possibly a firmware update may add this..?
@danibess62844 жыл бұрын
@@ANTandTEC Thanks for the reply, it’s quite confusing because some of the same models (SMT750) have fan but other don’t… From what I understand it has been in production for a long time and has evolved. The older ones didn’t even have a display, and as you said the newer ones might also have new features. Anyway the common point seems to be the battery, which I found to be the same for older and newer models.

Great video! Can we get a link for those small connectors that make them larger thx. 😁

Many batteries (including the one in the video) come with the adaptors. If you need to buy them separately search for "t1 t2 terminal converter"

FYI, the battery your installing is a UB1270 battery. If you want more storage, you can install a UB1280 or a UB1290 as they are the same size but have a higher AH (Amp Hour). The third number is the AH rating.
@ANTandTEC2 жыл бұрын
Did not know there was higher ratings available in the same case size - good information 👍
@petewilliams58012 жыл бұрын
@Robin Rastle Correct, the 1270 is a 7AH . The 1280 is 8AH and the 1290 is 9AH. All three have the same physical size and connectors.

Thanks for the tutorial. Are the batteries still efficient after one year? Thanks
@ANTandTEC3 жыл бұрын
A year should be no problem. After all they are not in constant heavy use, most of the time they are just on standby. You will find your offline time reduces as the batteries get 'tired'. Think the ones I replaced were 5 years old and still held a charge.

@@ANTandTEC Thank you, the reason I'm asking this is that I did switch to a "non APC" battery pack on the same UPS 1 year ago and now I'm already getting the "connect battery" message with the red led blinking. Hope the Yuasa batteries will be lasting longer...

Hello, I cant take out the batteries because they are bloated. Is there any other way to pull them out? Plus the previous owner ripped off the pull tag trying to get the batteries out.
@ANTandTEC2 жыл бұрын
Oh not good. Maybe two srewdrivers one on each side to lever each side of the battery together against the case a bit at a time?
@nikofabic57212 жыл бұрын
@@ANTandTEC I got them out finally. Used 2 screwdrivers as prybars to push them out. And lots of force with my hands. Man, these things look like balloons.

Is there a name for this exact size (physical size) battery? Are their different aH ratings for this size?
@ANTandTEC3 жыл бұрын
I don't think there is. The capacity are all 7Ah for this size. If you search for "12v 7Ah alarm battery" you will see many listings.

Do you still use 12ah battery for model SMT1000i model?
@ANTandTEC3 жыл бұрын
The batteries used in this video are 7Ah. The ones that you need to replace in the 1000 model are 12Ah batteries. The principal should be the same but with larger batteries.

I've sold it now, bit was still fine a year on. I'd expect them to last at least 3 or 4 years.

I Always separate glued batteries with a plastic spatula and WD40 or splash of oil. There are no quirks, holes and stretched foils for example. on lipos and is much easier;) and you urgently need a pad for your good table !!!! :) Greetings

why not just slip a paint scraper under the proprietary connector, pull off the terminals and stick it all straight onto the new batteries?
@ANTandTEC3 жыл бұрын
Next time I will. This was the first time I had attempted this, and assumed the connector was fixed firmly between the batteries.
