Here's my first impressions of the Varmax Mini Sewing Machine. It's really cheap, but is it worth the money and how many layers will it sew?

I got one cheap sewing machine very similar to the one you featured. I've been sewing for quite a while and this machine can do the basic job perfectly! I've sewn plushies, bags and dresses using this machine. The noise coming from this machine was crazy loud though so I advise please don't use this machine at night.

I have this machine! For this price, it's really good! You just need to accept that it's more manual manoeuvre. To wind the bobbin, just use your own hand to manipulate the thread while it's winding. To end the project, it's better to let it sew off the fabric for awhile so that you don't need to risk pulling and breaking the needle (well, actually it won't break, but the thread will). You'll end up with some twisted stitch but just untwist it. It's just a small price to pay. As for the back stitch, simply hold down the needle onto the fabric, turn the fabric, sew a stitch and then turn the fabric back, and it's done! I absolutely love this machine. Yeah, you won't be able to work it like a regular big sewing machine but for its price and what it can offer, it's a win! As for the tension, I'm not so particular, but thanks for pointing it out. I'll continue to experiment with it.

My machine didn't come with instructions, different brand but almost the same... how do you change the upper bobbin? I've been trying to pull it out, use pliers... but I can't take it off to use different thread. Thank you.

Thanks for reviewing that machine. I've been considering getting it, as I haven't touched a sewing machine since I was a child, and that was under my great-aunt's supervision. While I love hand-sewing, sometimes I wish that I had a small, simple machine for crafts and repairs. I think I'll buy it!

That's the machine I gave my grandkids when they said they were interested in what I was doing in my little corner all the time. They were 5 and 8 at the time; they've graduated to a Brother computerized machine since. They still use their "little" machines for quick repairs. (And you have me cracking up, scared of that machine equivalent of a mosquito when you're been working with pterodactyls all this time.)

Love this video! But you REALLY NEED TO READ INSTRUCTIONS FIRST! 🥰 Where the bobbin is, is where you fill the new bobbin. I Love the fact that you are so honest with this review. Had one like this when I was a kid, given to me by Godmother who could sew anything she saw in a magazine. She said it was like hers, just smaller and simple for new sewers like me. Made my dolls clothes and worked my way up from there. Can't wait to see your next video!!

THE TENTION: Step1: separate the silver tension ring by pulling it towards you with the spring. Look in between it, see that the thread is resting in the middle of the little piece of plastic, if not take the tread and rest it on the plastic then close the tension ring.

Bless you! I've been sewing for over 30 years. I've been using an expensive sewing and embroidery machine I've had for quite a long time. Our house was recently burglarized, but instead of stealing my machine, they destroyed it. I will eventually replace it, but just for now I just need something for basics like: mending, hemming and (as you can guess) making masks. This cute machine looks like it would do well. Thank you so much for sharing.

Thanks for reviewing this item. I got this machine on Amazon for my daughter and niece. You actually put the spool of thread on top (I figured this out after reading the instructions and watching a video🤣). Where you was using the bobbin to sew is where you want to wind a new bobbin. I used this machine to help my niece sew a project for school to sell for a fundraiser. And to be honest, I never sewn. I do now, but I'm very good at it 😊. Thanks for sharing 👍. So cute, great video! I thought of you cause I thru some miracle managed to get a Juki Industrial machine for 95$ total at an estate sale. It was a battle, and I needed to take a crash course in Industrials just to get it in the house. But 12$ of rustoleum spray paint for the base, new oil and gasket seal 18$ and I am ready to rumble. I'm so excited cause the power is just amazing. I also always check thrift stores for vintage machines. I got my 1944 Kenmore for $10. It is a work horse! Love you Queen of Upcycles!

I bought this because I usually hand sew, and I hate the finger pricks. So I decided to learn to machine sew, however, as a beginner who didn't know of they'd actually like it, I wasn't about to drop mega dollars on a machine. It's great for beginners, I've been practicing all day, and haven't had issues. It is hard to thread and I'm not used to the fact that it doesn't tie off? Like whatttttt how does the thread stay???? Anyways, I liked your review, it was helpful and non whiney(judgy) like some other reviews I've seen on here for this. Thank you for that.

Now, I know what I was doing wrong thanks to your video. I’ll try again later. Meanwhile, I’m ordering the mini. If I get comfortable with it, I’ll order the Brother that does sewing and embroidery. That’s what I really want to learn to do. Thank you!

I bought the machine after watching this video. It worked really well for 5 mins then power slowly died ☹ Unplugged and tried the battery option but poor thing didn't make it. Hopefully the replacement will work because this is nice for beginners and I love that it's not loud and doesn't vibrate the table.

I've been wondering whether those are good for a long time, and now I know. I like the little table it has. I have to give it a 👍 since it worked well on the denim, and I love the accessory tray. Good to have around for emergency sewing needs for the grand kids. TY, great video, and keep up the good work.

You can adjust the tension by turning the tension knob anticlockwise to loosen and clockwise to tighten.. or maybe the opposite way..( gotta READ the manual again) 😎

Thank you for an indepth review though I was super excited when I saw you had the handheld and the mini initially on screen, because I thought it was going to be a comparison. Newbies like myself don't know anything or how to judge between the items, so I liked how you did a quick pros and cons at the end. Would be good to have a comparison with the pros and cons in one video, side by side. But I love your personality and the review. Thank you!

My first sewing machine is this mini sewing machine. Its good for small sewing project. But i only used it for 3 weeks, before then decided to bought real sewing machine. It's not bad, but the sound though. Soo loud.... You have to fix the tension every few hours of sewing. And the most deal breaker is no reverse sew...😣

I bought this one and I was really disappointed, one of the screws fell off INSIDE the machine so I had to unscrew everything to get inside it and then put it back together, even before that it didn’t work it would always jam and the bottom threading would get scrunched up into a knot
@blissbouwerij4033
@blissbouwerij4033 Жыл бұрын
🤣 That was hilarious! The thread does not get wrapped around the tensioner, it just passes through it. Thats why you had trouble in this review and the "under $50" video. Also the needle threader goes through the eye of the needle first, then put the thread through the needle threader and pull the thread back through the eye of the needle. Good luck, you are fun to watch!

I was just searching KZbin to sew a few things and came across your video, and subscribed 😁 but thank you for these reviews. Never sewed a thing before lol but I have so many pants to hem thought it’ll be cheaper to do myself than pay someone else.. seen a few of your videos and definitely getting one. Definitely going to be a learning experience 😂

Mine just arrived today. What wasn't mentioned was the battery compartment allowing you to sew when there's no power (quick repairs while camping?). Most of my questions were answered in this video so I thank you for that.

Thank you thank you thank you so much for making this! My boyfriend wants to get into sewing to make dice bags, nothing crazy but a fun project. Unfortunately, he's in a wheelchair So something he can use an auto mode and is super cheap like this would be perfect for a novice hobbyist like him.

I got me one of these so I can fix my clothes and make some basic stuff like Halloween costumes, bags and stuff. It works really well, but the fact that it can't do back stitching or have different stitching patterns is kind of bogus. The thread tensioner can be a little finnicky unless you do some test stitches on similar fabrics as different threads can break or leave a loose stitch, though even the looser stitches tend not to come apart so easily. Another thing is the speed controller works sometimes, so if you're running the pedal it will run on low if you ned to stop and adjust the fabric at any point meaning you have to push the button each time you want it to run on high. And it can stall fairly easily. I don't have the space or dedication for a full-on getup so despite the minor idiosyncrasies, it has been a great machine.

I just bought one of these (brand Easy Home) from Aldi's for $14.99. Haven't unboxed it and set it up yet. I have a large sewing machine in my outside craft area, but thought this would be good to have in the house - small enough to store in any cabinet and I would just use it for crafts or repairing clothing, etc. I'm hoping it works well enough for that - thought it was a great price.

I completely suck at sewing. I’ve purchased one...an expensive one...I pulled it out of packaging...wasn’t feeling it..perhaps intimidated..so gave it to my mom. Now I need to make outdoor cushions and need one...feeling this would be an easier option for me.

@L B Yes, same here. It would be okay for a hem or a repair, but trying to make a whole garment with it would be difficult. No reverse, no adjusting stitch length, no zigzag, and so touchy and fidgety! I actually think it's easier for a kid to learn on a solid sturdy full size machine.

Thank you so much! I'm a beginner to sewing so this is very helpful. I'm m a fashion doll collector and I wanted to learn how to sew my own doll clothes without but other doll clothes secondhand. I planned to get a Brother seeing machine from Walmart bc a seller on etsy that ive purchase clothes from used that machine, but I didn't want to commit to that price yet and wanted to start with something cheap like this first, and get a handle on things. So thank ypu again.
