Gotarace : That’s for sure. I lived in Michigan when most cars were made of metal parts. Ziebart and Bondo time. Carry a magnet when looking for Bondo areas.

When replacing a rack, use a tape measure and measure from a point on the rack like the center of the mounting bolt to the center of the tie rod end. Then use the same measurement on the new rack and you will be pretty close on the toe setting.

For the seat trim JBWeld works great for these kind of repairs. I replaced this trim on my Ram pickup and reinforced all mounting points with JBWeld and it's holding up better than super glue.

Thank you so much Randy!! You have proven that you CAN teach an old dog new tricks. My daughter's 2015 Audi threw a check engine light this weekend. I used my new Launch scanner to pull the code. It was showing a slight leak in the evap system. I checked the gas cap seal ring and found a slight tear. $14.00 part from Audi and she's back on the road again. However, I hear a wheel bearing noise on the left side. She' ll have to bring it back for more service. No problem though, I just bought an aluminum floor jack and jack stands. (Too damn old to fight those heavy metal ones anymore) Thanks to you and Wierd Beard I have my confidence back to work on these newer vehicles. 😊 Please pass this on to Wierd Beird !!

WOW, nice undercarriage shot! You said Rack & Pinion and I thought PIA. Remember how they were like in your gold Cavalier (Olds Cierra/Buick Century)? They were 'wedged' against the firewall. I usually take a measurement of the racks total length, then count the turns of the rod ends. If the total length of the new assembly is different, you can adjust it keeping both sides even. Alignment is always need though. Cheers

I paid $1,100 for my 06 RT Charger I don't know what happened somehow the engine caught fire melted the whole wire harness took me a month to find another harness I paid $400 for Diablo I3 tuner and a set of staggered wheels on it a man she looks good and she's fast but I'm keeping this one lol

I didn't see what you used to seperate the tie rod ends from the hub arms - they used to sell a "ball joint fork" a.k.a. pickle fork - very handy tool.
