The Putikeeg paddle is also available on Amazon for $56-$58 depending on color. I bought one a few months back and it works well about 99% of the time, but once in a whil is drops dits and once in a while it starts sending random dits and dahs for a second or so after I touch a paddle. I haven;t been able to figure out why.

Hi Sean, Another great video. I like the way you TOFTT, or in this case several. When I returned from a doctors appointment there was a package in the mailbox. It was from Dave Casler KE0OG and I won a Retevis RT5RV from his monthly giveaway. I now have a VHF/UHF HT. Did a KZbin search and Retevis uploaded a video 8 years ago. Didn't know this radio design was that old. 🙂 Stay safe. 73 WJ3U

I ordered a putikeeg and plan on converting it to a side swiper/cootie. Hopefully I can put it back together.

It's super simple to disassemble, I will be curious how the cootie key works!

LOL, here's a way to see how old I am. I bought my first straight key for about $5, and a used semi-automatic "bug" key for less than $20. Inflation may be responsible for today's prices, but they're still really, really very simple devices. You'd think they'd go for $10 not $60 and up. Fortunately for me, I don't do CW often, if at all. But I did shell out about $50 for my current key. It has the magnets on the bottom, which is fine if your desk is metal. I bought an electric stove burner cover as a base, and it works well enough.

@@HAMRADIODUDE Just FYI, I just started my own ham channel, EWS Radio. I'm N2EWS, formerly KI5VDI (veneraal disease infection LOL), formerly KB0FU (FU? really, FCC?), formerly WB2EWS, formerly WN2EWS. You can guess why I got my vanity call sign N2EWS.

Thing is, W1RCP made a KM4CFT key. Which I based off the CW Morse pocket paddles. (Also, I was able to find a supply of springs so I am able to sell them as a kit)
