Great project! I like the fact that you showed the granite part too. Well done. May I suggest that after tooling, apply Tan-Kote, then Antique Finish (paste), then another layer of the Tan-Kote. It really makes tooling "pop" and protects the leather too.

Hi Dan, That's an excellent suggestion thank you for that. I do need to learn how to do this antiqueing process anyway, so gave it a try. It really is an improvement (but I should practice more 🤣). My 2 cents: I'd suggest pouring some water while cutting the granite! And all that nice tooling would love some antiquing, in order to make it pop out more! 😁

Thanks, I love tips! I am still learning so every suggestion or idea is appreciated. I will order some Fiebing Antique Finish and see how that works. And about the water, is it for cooling or keeping the dust down? My grinder is a consumer level tool and I didn't know if it would handle water well. Cheers!

@@TonyNeedsHobbies it helps with both! Using water when cutting stone made by blades last much, much longer. One doesn't need a huge flow of water on the slab, a little will do.
