Cheap drift tire challenge #7: Achilles 2233 vs Lexani LX UHP 207 :(

Currently use these exact Lexani model (245/45/17) on my non-daily ‘00 Mustang GT and I have no complaints on them. They’re not as grippy as I’d like in the rear though as my back end does spin out in 1st gear a significant amount during pulls, but good tires that I’m sure will last me a really long time. Badass video though.

What about Atlas? I have the Lexani and Atlas in front of me atm (long story). 265/35/18. Waiting for the others to show up. They look very much alike aside from tread pattern and the Atlas is like 5mm wider and weighs a pound more. Both mfg in Tailand.

Really no such thing as a great drift tire. No brand dedicates time money and science to "drift" so you need this test just to find one "good" enough

Actually quite a few companies have drift specific compounds or flavors of tire. Hankook was one of them. They were constantly tweaking the mix to get the most they could out of them specifically for drifting. Valino is another tire that had drift guys in mind, they actually added tread depth to make tires last longer. Recently kenda released a 255/40/18 just so guys could run their tires in pro am to be in the same size for pro 2. The only bad part is most of those tires are pretty expensive. That's why I test the cheap ones.

I'm cant believe more companies dont have drift specific compounds. Drifters buy and use more tires in a year than more people do in 10-15+ years. We are their cash cow.
