Today, I am testing Faber Castell's Eco pencils! These pencils cost me around £5 for a set of 36 pencils whereas the Faber Castell Polychromos pencils cost over £50 for the same amount! I want to see whether price really matters or if you can grab yourself a bargain by getting your hands on the eco pencils! I have all of the products listed in the description if you want to check anything out!

Wow I wasn’t aware of these pencils! I knew about goldfaber(faber castells student grade line?) but these are super cheap. I love how you did all the different tests to show how they perform. I agree the blotchiness seems kind of annoying but also kinda expected at such an affordable price. Would you say that you prefer the crayola to these?
@AmyLouiseArt3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Alexis! Yes I definitely think these are better than crayola! I think they were a bit blotchy because I was using smooth paper - someone told me that on more textured paper they are better 😊💕

Ahhh~ I am so so glad that you found these pencils. They were my first set of colored pencils when I started to color traditionally again. I loved to use them :) for a beginner, it is a really good brand and for the price nice quality. I don´t know what paper you used, but I think if you use a bit rougher paper then the pencils work even better :)

Thank you Gina for your comment! I think I need to use paper with a bit more tooth to it and I’ll probably get better results with blending & burnishing. I really like these pencils! Definitely want to give them a go 😊

@@AmyLouiseArt aw you're welcome lovely! Yes, one thing is for sure a bit rougher paper like a cheaper watercolor paper that has texture works really good with cheap colored pencils 😊

They look similar to the FC Classic pencils I get in Australia. I don't know if they're identical but they look the same and are similarly priced. They're my favourite pencils since I can't afford professional quality. They have hard leads which retain their sharpness so they're good for details but on the down side like you point out they can be brittle and also takes time and several layers to get the maximum saturation out of them. I haven't had problem with blending and burnishing. Sometimes i've needed gradations that combine varying levels of four or five different colours and I've never had any problems. I find it more often depends on the type of paper than the quality of the pencils. Yes the white is useless for lightening areas. On the other hand not too bad for burnishing. Can you do a test of a few common pencil brands on different types of paper?
@AmyLouiseArt3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment 😊 they could be the same as the classics! Maybe just a different name and I think these are a great alternative if you want to save money - I can no longer afford expensive pencils so looking forward to using these. I think I had trouble with blending and burnishing because my paper was smooth - I’m going to try using a paper that has a bit more tooth next time and see if that makes a difference! Thank you for the suggestion with testing pencils on different paper! That’s a great idea 👍🏻

@@AmyLouiseArt ah yes if it's too smooth it's a problem. with printer paper I can only get 2 or 3 thin layers on. I'm using a derwent sketchbook at the moment and they work well. even crayollas work well on it which just goes to show how much the paper matters.

Those pencil are not on a pro level, but for this price they are very good (The Faber Castell Black edition is better)
