for those who somehow can not buy O-rings, I 've just wrap random rubber band(any size) instead of O-rings and its work pretty well. You need to make sure not to stretch the rubber band.

I used this hack to fix a Hario Skerton knock -off I bought for $2.99 at Goodwill., and it now works great, used $1.35 in a nylon washer and 2 o-rings. It works great, even when adjusted for a coarse grind. Thanks, great video, good info!

Thanks for the tips. Just applied some of the fixes on my Porlex mini and it’s back working smooth and fine.

What size o-rings did you use on the Porlex mini? And where did you put them? Thank you!
@PabloBossledaLuz2 жыл бұрын
@@matthewpiva688 Once I couldn't find the right o'ring sizes, I had to improvise and ended up using electrical insulating tape. Nothing much technical, just by the feeling, haha. I've applied it on the outer side of the outer nut (the big one), close to the edge. I cut the tape to reduce its width to something around 4-5mm and also had to cut it to contour the notches. I applied some tape around the tip of the axle too, to stabilize the inner nut.

It worked. I can now grind fine coffee powder again.

One big flaw in this or just my part is that.. when i use those o-rings on shaft, it makes it stable without any wobble but there is an offset by a significant margin which inturn gives the shaft some angle

can i ask how you removed the plastic thing inside the aluminum body? I'm scared of breaking the plastic
@addespuig512 жыл бұрын
I have the same grinder as that and i need to know how to remove it so i can put in the needed modification
@zee22132 жыл бұрын
It gets discarded by itself most of the times since it's not held by anything but it's only there to stabilize the shaft. You can use tweezers or shake the container and it will fall off.

how do you take off the inside black part ?
@qhxz2 ай бұрын
I just did it for anyone wondering I’m also upgrading this I used gasoline and let it sit and then I grabbed anything I found to take this off I used 2 bricks and cardboard to not scratch the metal and struck the middle part to get to the stuck piece that stays on the top next I used the same piece to strike I used a smooth end of a socket wrench anything the tap out without a scratch and wd40d the edges till it came out and that’s how the glue comes out too from this
@qhxz2 ай бұрын
Then get a mason jar lid is optional and get iso alcohol and microwave it till it boils and dunk the glue covered parts and stir or shake and it’ll come out easy

I'm afraid of break the plastic part. Mine is glued so strong. Can you give me some advice?
@qhxzАй бұрын
@@cuongtrithuc2139 I let it sit in a disposable cup with gasoline but theres was a thin film after I cleaned it off then I would rub off the thin film of the glue that was there initially . friction by rubbing it off with your hands ( so I it wont smell like gas)

Has anyone had one with the main plastic insert glued in the steel body? Mine won't come out! I've been pounding on this thing and I'm afraid I'll break it.
