No way I just found out about this. I had to buy a new hand grinder just because the finest setting wasn’t fine enough. Awesome video man and keep it up!

I had a similar grinder like this and used it for almost 2 years. Works great for espresso after a good calibration. Except for the noise level that this grinder makes, I don't have anything to complain about. The grinder still works, but I just upgraded to the new Solis grind & infuse perfetta.

loving that attitude towards making the best out of what you got, i saw in ur previous video, youve had an extra wire connected to the grinder, mind explaining that a little more, torn between getting this, and just splurging on a grinder worth a couple hundred$$$
@nickscoffeestudio Жыл бұрын
I was torn myself, but I chose this with the view of upgrading the burrs in the future. Something I didn’t mention is that you can upgrade to titanium burrs for this grinder. The second cable is essentially a ground wire. We work off the UK type plug in Ireland which meant that the two pin plug that came with it wouldn’t have a ground/earth connection. Since the body is metal, I just attached a copper wire to one of the back screws, and connected that to a plug, but just the earth wire. It really helped reduce static build up. So that, along with doing the spray/RDT method, and the bellows, I’m getting out what I put in! Hope this helps :)

Glad you got something from it, have you got the same grinder? Not sure if the product is still on AliExpress, but if you search for 600N grinder bellows you'll find something :)

Any idea if the burrs can be changed out? I need a grinder and I'm thinking about getting this one. I've used Gaggia grinders in the past. I don't want to spend a lot of money this time around. Thanks for creating this video!
@nickscoffeestudio Жыл бұрын
Yes the burrs can be swapped. Most 60mm flat burrs with two screw holes will fit! A decent set of burrs will cost as much as the grinder though :)

Great video! I personally decided to invest in a 56$ hand grinder for Moka pot application and it works well, and maybe along the way will change for an espresso set up. I like your approach! It is always way easier to invest a lot of money on a well known band for pretty much similar quality. Most materials on this planet are made in the countries you mentioned it only makes sense to look for a competitive option and modify it especially on the starting point. Did you have to 3D print the funnel yourself or is it available on the market? What is the burr size and what steel is it? Again, well done mate. Cheers.

I'd like same answers as you !

Sorry I missed this comment, I normally try to reply to all! I got the funnel from Lazada, also available on Ali Express and it is 3D printed. The bellows was from a different unit and I just super glued them together. The burr size is 60mm and they're stainless steel burrs. Nothing special but better than just the coated steel that came with the machine :)

Good luck on your long long coffee journey. I wonder if the meat grinder can be modified for espresso.
@nickscoffeestudio Жыл бұрын
Thanks! With some simple adjustments, this grinder definitely gets close to being able to grind for espresso. It doesn't grind fine enough for the more high end machines, but for most entry level espresso machines, it's done well! Check out some of the newer videos on the channel for new content with a Flair 58!

I got the tray from AliExpress, it's a wooden coaster that's 8.8cm square, same for the top wooden bit!

Love the video! I have found myself down the rabbit hole of "Budget Grinders" that punch above their weight. This grinder looks like the RRH that I've found available for $72 here in the US. Lance Hendricks has a video on budget grinders that showcases the one in your video and the one i will probably go with via ordering direct from Taiwan, the Akirakoki m520a for around $145 after shipping. Cheers good sir! P.s. I'd love to know what machine you're using.
@nickscoffeestudio Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yes I remember watching Lance’s video and it was one of the reasons I bought this one. I figured, how bad could it be?! For entry level home espresso machines it really works a treat with a bit of calibration mixed with a bottomless portafilter. It would be even more consistent with a burr upgrade. I’m using a Dedica EC685 right now and also have a ROK manual machine… but that will change soon, and likely the grinder setup with it. It’s all a fun (however nerdy) journey! Hope the grinder works out well for you!

Putting a dosing ring on the dial is genius sir!! Do you have any footage of how you did it? Also, can you share the product links where you bought the dosing ring, 3D printed Hopper, rubber bellow, coasters (i am just assuming you bought this from the Philippine Lazada and Shopee stores since one link you posted was a PH Shopee store?)
@nickscoffeestudio8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment! A 58mm dosing ring fits almost perfectly around the dial, but I did need to use some sandpaper to take a couple of millimetres off the dial for it to fit. Everything was bought at either AliExpress or Lazada. Unfortunately the same links don’t work now. But if you search for them they should show up, I think different sellers have the same thing. Search for 600n bellows - the hopper and bellows come together. And the coasters are 8.8cm exactly

@@nickscoffeestudio Jut ordered my 600N and will arrive in a few days.. I hope I can make step by step video process documenting how I transform mine. I will surely include links to your video, I will have to change the dosing ring to black though I think I like it that way... I am also planning to de-chrome the stock plastic dial... just have to find a compatible hopper and bellow as well. Thanks so much for this Nick! I appreciate your video, this inspired me to have a project to work on!

Enjoy! I actually did the blackout thing a bit later too, you can see it in this video - kzbin.infoGHHdFCefuC8. Little tip, if you want to cover up the dial, look for a car wheel centre cap sticker!

@nickscoffeestudio Жыл бұрын
Hi, I got it from Lazada, but it's also available from Ali Express. It's an actually a mix of two different purchases. I bought two and made them fit together as I liked the base part of one, and the bellows part of the other. And then the wooden top part is a drinks coaster!

@@martindesmarais7158 yes, the bellows really does work :) The bottom measurement for the funnel for this machine is 35mm :) Make sure to measure yours just in case they are different
