Looks good another usable tool. I wrap a strong magnet in a piece of paper towel, collect the metal bits then reverse the towel off the magnet no mess and metal bits all over the place... Where you thinking the waffle head?

I use pennies for washers sometimes but I've never used one for a shim.

Why did you scrape the wood before you sand. That came out really nice

I scrape the wood with a box knife first to get the top layer of crude off, it saves a lot of sanding, also the sandpaper gets clogged up, depends on whats on the handle grease, oil, dirt, varnish, I always scrape first and use 220 grit sand paper, and sometimes I will use finer!

Where Abouts Do You Live? I Live In Minnesota. Sounds Like You Live In North Or south Carolina Or Georgia. When It Starts Getting Cold Here In Minnesota I Start Doing My Woodworking Projects & That Keeps Me Pretty Bussy Pretty Much Of The Winter. Now I'm Making Donut Orniments For The Christmas Tree. & I Give Them Out As Gifts For People To Put On Their Trees. I Also Make Coasters Too. I Make Them Out Of Tree Wood. Then I Know It's Real Wood. A Year Ago I Cut Out A Spoonrest From An Old Maple Cutting Board My LSS Worker Gave Me. I Didn't Think I Couldn't Do It But I Finaly Got It Cut Out.

Oklahoma, and if it gets below 70 degrees I freeze! I hate cold weather, almost froze to death when I was a kid, got lost in a snow storm in Alaska, sounds like you have some skills, I hope you are able to get a lot done this winter!
