How did I cool our house from 30ºC to 25ºC in 1 day for just 14p?
And with just a few simple items common in most homes.
I take you around my home with a thermal imaging camera to see how this works and how you can set it up yourself.
Please consider sharing this content if you believe others could benefit, thank you.
As mentioned in the video, other forms of cooling may be more suitable for your needs; this setup humidifies the air in the house to exchange hot air from downstairs for cold humidified air upstairs.
Please bear in mind that towels continuously soaked with old stagnant water may present health issues, where fresh water should always be used; this is similar to and based on drying freshly washed clothes in your home. Also, fresh tap water is treated and maintained with low doses of cleaning agents by the water authorities to kill off most bacteria. These chemicals are used up over a day or so in the water, where bacteria will be able to thrive (hence always drinking fresh water).
I hope you find this useful and it makes you more comfortable.

Water requires 2257 joules per gram to turn from fluid to vapor. Your 8 liters if it all evaporated would theoretically remove about 18 million joules of energy from your house. 1 Watt is 1 Joule per second. So your 8 liters will remove roughly 5kWh of energy from your home just by evaporating at room temp....the equivalent of running a 3kW AC unit for nearly 2 hours. For a cost comparison to acheive the same cooling using a Heat Source Air Pump would cost you about 1 pound at current energy costs.

Thank you for the great info. I was surprised by how well this worked as it was just a thought initially that I just had to try. I have been looking at Heat Source pumps for heating the pool, maybe I can use them to cool the house at the same time by running it inside 😉

Good idea to deal with heat already inside the house. But if you put white sheets outside of Windows the heat doesn't get in as much. Think of Mediterranean houses with shutters. Silver aluminium foil works well too

Very true, it was a warm one on Tuesday, maybe we need to have those white shutters on our windows too, I think summers are going to get even hotter in the coming years

@@Dev255 I live in spain. The "white shutters" are called Persianas they are actually roller blinds and they are built into the window frames here. You can get "after market" ones so you could probably retro fit them to UK windows. And yes they make a tremendous difference in the summer here...as does not having south facing windows (which most older Spanish homes do not). But they are not exactly cheap.. 200 Euros per window more or less. So for the times you´d use them in the UK you might be better off hanging white curtains or cheap roller blinds from B+Q.

@@Pabz2030 Blimey, they are expensive, I think I'll stick to towels and fans for now, we hardly get extremely hot days in the UK.

Hello, what kind of results did you end up getting with the solar pool heater? Interested in making one of those myself :)

Hi, I have a video that I'm working on at the moment that compares different solar methods of heating the pool, where the panels only really contribute to around 20% of the heat gained in the pool. Although 20% extra heat is a good thing. Watch this space.
