As a retired LAR/Force Recon Marine, The weight was the most important for me as far as the Plates were concerned. My 1st deployment, I was having to wear basically 5 plates. At the time I was 6’3 about 235lbs. It made my job very difficult as it was soo bulky and restrcitive for someone supp. to be silent swift and deadly. The 2nd3rd deployment minus side sapps and a new carrier made it somehwhat better along with a little lighter sapi plate. My 4th and 5th with just the plate carrier(front/back).. and the plates issued and allowed to wear a carrier from an outside source was night/day. I had full movement, lighter, no restrictions, easy to fit, tighter fit, and from all I can rememeber still offered the “same” protection. I dont know what company was used but I know the last 4 plates issued looked like the ones you used im this video as compared to the OD green heavier, and larger issued plates in an XL for me. I was young and dumb, but I always wondered yrs and yrs later after watching yours, demo, and Kentucky Ball. as to the diff in weight, carrier, and custom plates not used… Only for specialized units. I understand cheap plates for the masses. I rem weighing myself with the first armour/full battle rattle and I was pushing 70lbs to 80lbs of extra weight. Plates, Carrier, 8(556) mags, 3(45.) mags, sling, 3 throwing knives, 45pistol and holster, radio, Surefire, IFAC, Scissors, and torniquet.

Same size here, 6'3' 240, US Army and Navy veteran (Glutton for punishment) and have a hard time finding a vest carrier that is large enough to fit,and looks Tiny on my chest, they really need to make some Big Boy sizes for uss. I had no problem in the Army they did have X large sizes, but buying US Army Issue is around $1,600 i would probably buy one but nobody is really selling them, the used ones on Ebay are the carriers without plates.

I'm only two and a half min in, but I think this may be the best body armor test ever conducted on youtube. Everyone else seems to think they need to test a .22, then every pistol caliber before they ever even come close to testing what it was designed for. To other creators: Nobody cares about your pistol calibers on rifle plates, feel free to skip those.
@seff6533Ай бұрын
That's what makes sense though. That's how the nij does it. You want to make sure it stops pistol calibers before moving on to what it claims

The fact that this plate can stop a 338LM at about 50 ft is rather impressive since I've put 338LM through 3/8 AR500 steel at 1k yards before. That round has some serious energy transfer along with tons of penetration ability, even at range. Very surprised that this RMA 1165 plate could stop it, you'd likely be going to the hospital with several broken ribs after the impact but that's still better than the alternative......you know......like which quote you're putting on your tombstone for example.

@@Thegoofyairgunner Yeah that energy has to go somewhere it doesn't just disappear. If that plate doesn't absorb all of it, and I doubt it would considering how close it came to passing through, it's going right into your chest where the majority of your vital organs are.

"Stopped it", but with three inches of deformation... in the central chest, that's still got to be deadly. Y'all should get G force pads to put behind them, because a ton of energy is being transferred into the human body still, and THAT can be deadly. That's why SOME handgun rounds are super legit. Get some ultra fast rounds to transfer energy into the target. I always hype up the Civil Defense by Liberty Ammunition.

About the .338 stopping, this doesn't mean you'd survive. An impact like that to the chest would do some major internal damage.
