Cheap Mercedes 190E Evo 2 Build | PT7

After 1 1/2 years of not having a car I finally bought one!
I decided to go with a 1992 Mercedes Benz 190E 2.3 SportLine to make a 190 Evo II Cosworth replica as I think it’s the coolest car I can build for my budget of $20,000.
The goal is to finish the car before May 4th so I can take it across Canada for Driven Show interviewing car enthusiasts & showcasing their builds along the way.

Bodywork is the worst bit. You can rebuild the drivetrain so much easier, as parts are everywhere.

​@Unc_Talks sorry, but no, working on the chassis takes an absurd amount of time, always more, than you anticipated. If you delegate it to someone - a lot of $$ in labour, if you do it yourself, your time isn't free I suppose. 😁 Even if you're building for yourself. Would rather spend that time driving, than working on it, but that's me. Body work = a lot of fabrication usually, mechanics - if it fits, it fits. Unless it's some big custom stuff, super rare etc.

@@sanoober I think "best way possible" is a hard metric. The channels that do like the "CIVIC TYPE R BUILT IN 30 MINUTES" cut out all the mistakes and give an unrealistic expectation of working on cars. Unfortunately I don't know of any other EVO 2 DIY builds (which is what drew me to this in the first place) due to the high cost of entry. That being said, I'm a big fan of Ronald Finger- his Fiero Revival series is super cool and he does all of it himself and figures it out along the way. Donut has gone downhill in recent years, but their old High Lows and the Money Pit Miata series are fun. Torque GT's P1 series was super cool when it was getting regular updates. My friends like POWERNATION's stuff but they do muscle cars and I'm more of a JDM guy myself. I also can't stand their accents. Car KZbin is a cesspool unfortunately, and a lot of the really interesting stuff that isn't a blatant cash grab comes from smaller channels. Best advice I can give is to keep your eyes peeled and hopefully the algorithm blesses you. Godspeed and good luck brother.

this video is really hard to watch for a lot of reasons. its 20 mins long with little to no editing. seems rushed and slapped together. i seriously end up skipping 90% of the video because i cant be bothered to wait 20 mins just for one or 2 pieces of the car to be assembled. Please try and make the video just a little bit more engaging and interesting.

@@slim_krakow4174 The problem isn’t that someone else is doing all the work, it’s that he keeps saying “we” about all the hard work that’s being done on the car when he’s just contributing the money to get those finished. Nothing wrong with paying to have a car built or a job done, but taking credit for the work is unfair to the people who are actually putting the effort in, especially when they’re doing it for free or cheaper as a friend.

Also keep in mind, this is a very nice advertisement for Jason and his garage, like the video isn't just shown to bunch of friends, but has quite serious range of viewers. I respect the spirit and balls to try something like that's a bit different, never know how it's going to go. However it feels like you are trying to speedrun too much stuff - a dream car build, low budget, short deadline, a long ass trip and building the community at one go.
