I was having big time audio noise problems because my lap top was connected to my audio system. Computers are NOISY!
Will using an optical link to isolate the computer from the audio system cure this? Lets try out a very cheap optical input audio DAC.

Your camera work is terrible but I learnt a lot. Love what you've shown re grounding, the sound issues, and how you identified the issue with your multimetre. I'm having the same issue. Thank you for sharing. Subbed.

It was quite an early video - I quickly learned to use a stand for the camera wherever possible. Glad you found the content useful.

You could've got an amp module with a Bluetooth 5.0 receiver on it. Please sort out the camera work, watching these videos is tedious when you've got only one hand free to open boxes etc.

In my opinion, FX Audio DAC is better alternative. It's also cheap yet good quality than Prozor DAC.

I'll give you the problems I found in this reviews so it's easier to fix in other videos : - we don't know how you connect your computer to this DAC. There's apparently another component we don't know of and could mess with sound. - we don't want to know that you are struggling with the need of 2 hands cause u have the camera, just plug it (even by a cut) or have it already plugged in. If you show the whole wiring like in first point there's no problems. - you say it's a review but all we know is that it does sound, wow! No idea if it's quality or not, u have a knob we don't hear about, all we know is that you have earthing problem which takes most of the video (and we don't care about to be honest) Hope I'm not being too harsh, just trying to point out the problems for future videos.

Thanks for your comments. I don't script or rehearse these videos so they ain't going to be perfect. Having said that, I should have mentioned the optical signal was coming from a Behringer UCA202. It won't affect the audio as it's all digital. As for the camera work - these days I use a stand for the camera unless I absolutely have to hold it. I just couldn't get the hang of doing something and holding the camera steady

@@TripplikitElectronics no problem just try to give you a feedback for better video, people don't want to see you say 'oh i nneed two hands' just cut and show the result, i mean if u show hesitation or struggle you give the feeling you're not sure what you're doing even if it s not the case and it s not really pleasing to watch. Good luck the future

You need to invest in a tripod. I couldn't stop laughing when you were fiddling with your scissor to cut that plastic :D 1 hand unboxing. lol

I have one optical port and one 3.5 port in my tv .. so , by using this converter does it improve my sound quality? Or same as 3.5 mm port . Please reply
@TripplikitElectronics
@TripplikitElectronics 3 жыл бұрын
I assume you're trying to use external speakers with you're TV. I would guess the 3.5mm socket is for headphones so I would expect you to get better quality audio with a converter like this one. If you're intending to buy a power amplifier, quite a lot of them now have optical inputs built in.

I have a microware optical to 3.5mm jack and analog converter and it has a ligh hiss noise . Is it normal
@TripplikitElectronics
@TripplikitElectronics 3 жыл бұрын
I don't know this particular unit but I would would expect any optical converter to be quiet. Assuming it isn't your source audio that's noisy, I would check your ground path and make sure your audio ground is separated from your computer ground - computers are very electrically noisy. If that isn't the problem I would suspect your converter unit is faulty.

Hi, do you know Could i connect a PS2 to this via an optical cable and go straight to headphones and use the volume control on the unit to alter volume through the headphones?”
@TripplikitElectronics
@TripplikitElectronics 3 жыл бұрын
I don't know the PS2 at all but the optical cables advertised for it look standard. The PROZOR DAC unit is stereo and the PS2, I gather, is surround sound. Is there some default compatibility? I don't know. Can the PS2 be set up to output stereo? I don't know. You'd need to find this out. The headphone output seems to work well though I don't normally use it.

Does a 96khz DAC have a big difference in sound quality output compared to 192khz DAC?
@TripplikitElectronics
@TripplikitElectronics 3 жыл бұрын
Interesting question - I could write an essay on it. Theoretically you can reproduce signals up to half the sample rate but the reproduction is poor above 1/4 the sample rate. However, most high frequency sounds we listen to are basically noise - "s"s (and similar) in speech and cymbals in noise which cover this up. This is why CD sample rate is fine for most people. So, if you can hear up to 20kH, 96kHz will be absolutely fine for you and even then you would need a very high quality DAC and sound reproduction system to appreciate it. In my view, you only gain from 196kHz sample rate for digital sound processing. Having said that, my ears aren't as young as they were and I can't hear much over 10kHz so I make do with 48kHz sample rate. Interesting point - possible topic for a video.

@@TripplikitElectronics Thanks for the details. I'm currently using 96khz for my TV but very curious as to how much difference the 192khz DAC makes.

Sorry about the late replay. I didn't try this when testing but I've tried it now. The jack is for headphones and if you plug headphones in it turns off the rca outputs. So your answer id no.

hi, unsure if you've solved your problem since this video went up, but I had a similar issue with hum that sounded almost identical to yours at 14:05-ish. it was releated to earthing, in that my hifi set up was running power from a completely different extension cord/wall outlet to that of my pc audio source. solved the problem by buying a little piece of equipment called a Ground Loop Isolator (shouldn't run more than about a tenner; the name of the issue is a ground loop feedback according to extensive googling) and inserting it between the 3.5mm output and the line-in phono inputs on my amp. hope you've got it solved already but if not, that might help!
