Hey, guys! In this video I'll share with you five EASY and CHEAP porch decorating ideas. When it comes to outdoor decorating for spring, you can be tempted to spend a lot on wreaths, planters, and flowers. But in this video, we're decorating on a dime. I share some fresh ideas for 2018 using Dollar Tree supplies and budget finds. I share a rustic farmhouse planter box, inexpensive flowers, DIY pallet signs, Dollar Tree window planter boxes, my favorite spring flowers, and simple and elegant mason jar lighting. Kathryn I too am a Dollar Tree junkie. There may be a support group out there for people like us; but, I LOVE that I can find so many things that cost so much more than even at a Wal-Mart. I saw two things I wanted to share with you. Last item first, you showed the floating candle holder jar. In my mind I could already see SO many possibilities with those jars. I would purchase some of their jute twine and use it to hang those jars up for evening mood lighting. Think ahead about where you want to hang these jars and how many will you need to give your front porch or back patio the right amount of lighting. Then determine how the distance between each jar. Next determine how much jute twine you need from your starting point until you would place your 1st jar. Then wrap the twine around the and tie a small square knot by taking the roll or ball of jute twine and passing through itself to forma knot. Then adjust where the twine needs to be at so that you can screw the black floating candle hold ring back on the jar. Measure the distance you predetermined what would look best between each jar. Keep the jute twine length the same between each jar. Place a piece of tape at the point where you want the jar to be attached. Next wrap the jute twine around the neck of the jar and securely tie another knot. Replace floating candle holder with the screw top lid back on the jar. Continiue placing each jar along the line in the same manner. If you want, place and imitation tealight candle inside. You cut some leaves off from an artificial flower sprig. Hot glue the leaves down on the candle holder. place the battery powered tealight candle on top of the leaves to see if you want more or not. Here are a couple ideas about using take flowers in the jar. Choose flowers for the season. You could use some of the small little flowers along the stem and determine length of flowers that will hang from candle ring. You could hot glue the flowers on the ring, in the hot sun on the west coast, the glue may melt or freeze in the colder weather. I would prefer to wrap the cut length of hanging flowers and if your sprig of flowers has a wide inside the stem. Wrap this plastic coated wire around the candle ring holder. As well you could place a small amount of floral moss on the bottom of the jar and then loosely place some small flowers on top of the floral moss.

Love the crate idea! Sometimes I grow nasturtium flowers in unappealing containers and the crate would be a great disguise! Herbs would look good in it too, especially with a " Farmers Market" stencil.

While there are some awful looking faux flowers, I have seen some that look nice. There are individuals with mobility issues that are not able to properly care for live plants. If not for my husband and our son, I would be one of them, does that mean I can't have some color in our yard? This allows those individuals to enjoy their yards as well!

Thank you for the Amazon tip! I have a spot outside my french doors that get blasted with summer sun for over six hours every day (facing east), and EVERYTHING dies or fades instantly. No amount of watering and coddling keeps anything alive including drought resistant plants. They hang or sit on pots on the concrete patio and cook. Silk flowers don't last long. NOW I can have pretty flowers. Hugs to you!

I really appreciate the window box flowers idea. Over here in the Alps, window boxes are a big thing but I am just too busy/forgetful to successfully keep them alive and it honestly had never occurred to me that I could use fake flowers for that sort of thing. I will definitely consider this for this summer, when I will be way too busy with a newborn to be worrying about watering flowers.
