Yeah… it’s mental! Although I prefer to keep things looking as close to stock as possible. The Tamiya speed record is also up there above 150mph… but the car looks nothing like a Tamiya anymore. But full respect for achieving that sort of speed!

Truly, I have a LOT of respect for WLtoys. my return to RC was with a 104001. VERY fast, handles well, and honestly its pretty competitive. You can even upgrade it to race spec because it fits a few different brand's parts or is close to a few others. for 150 bucks its hard to beat... gets you started racing for so little. :) ive since upgraded to a b74d but I still love my 104001 and drive it sometimes.

I mean, the 104001 is a cheap clone of an XRAY XB4 2016. Of course it's going to do well on the track, it's based on the car that won the 2016 IFMAR World Championships. Granted, the materials on the 104001 are kinda crappy, particularly the super-soft chassis plate. But that's an easy fix (not by buying the carbon fiber chassis from WLToys, though. You'll want the XRAY chassis braces and maybe the milled 7075 chassis as well).

I love the124016 - I've made some dodgy mods to toughen it up with homemade bumber and lots of hot glue to protect arms etc. It''s fast, handles well and takes a beating. Great vid - these are the things that make the hobby so much fun👍

I love this car, it's so smooth and fast. Not many adjustments needed to go fast either. I just got my 1/14 monster truck not to long ago and I upgraded it with the 144010 Brushless setup and it's a beast. It's also very smooth and fast had to learn how to break because it would front flip on full brake. Definitely a big fan of Wltoys products.

I like my 124018. I bought extra parts after breaking stuff. Took a while to get, but it's ok. I stocked up pretty good. Mostly front end!😅 The faster IT goes the faster YOU brake stuff!😂

the locktight on these is no joke! crashed mine soon after buying it and broke the rear diff, getting that out was... fun to say the least haha, ended up replacing the motor + the plastic tray plus the motor mount after breaking off every screw attached to that thing!

With the 124017 with some drive trains setup and dumbo rc radio. Goes really well on carpet track. Great handling and smooth. I looking forward for have the new 104002. Sure will be a great racing buggy.

Originally, I too preferred the buggy body. Then, reality hit when I needed to remove 12 screws and take half the thing apart to do any work on it. The solution was to mix in a bunch of LC Racing shock and body mounts and use one of their truggy bodies. I added the blue wheels and tires from a RedCat Tornado EXP Pro to go along with it.

You said you drilled grub screw out, did you manage to save the pinion? Reason I ask is I need to gear down on my Kraton EXB and I don’t want to destroy the pinion if possible. I was thinking about heating it up before and during drilling , just take my time. Can you retap pinions being hardened steel? I am a rookie in RC, just bought a couple of MJX 14210 to race my family in the backyard and WLT 124017 is on the way BUT I was somewhat impatient and ordered two Lipos S3 3300 mAh in ahead but now they don't fit to MJXes. Can anyone measure if it will fit for WLT 124017 ? Battery is 13,5 cm long, 4,3 cm wide and 2 cm high.

get the 144010 instead, brushless version of the 144001, only released end of march. I've had great fun with it, was my first buggy. I was going to do the v2, but saw the 144010 being released soon. and it was cheaper so I went for it and have no regrets.
