Cheap Rod Building Motor Speed Controller - Wireless Motor Speed Control

I was looking to cut down on all the wiring needed to run a wired remote speed control for a finishing/wrapping motor setup I've been playing around with. I knew that LED dimmers work with pulse width modulation and there are wireless LED dimmers available for just a few dollars...why not give it a try!?!?
It works pretty well I'd say. There is more motor noise using this setup at slower speeds and I'm sure that has something to do with the pulse frequency. If anyone knows how to work around (maybe a capacitor or something wired inline with the motor input side???) for the low speed noise I'd love to hear that.
There isn't as much variability of the low end speed control as you get with a wired dc motor pwm speed controller. I can get the wired pwm down to about 20 rpms with good torque (the motor is a 200 rpm gear motor). With the wireless setup, I can only get the rpms down to around 80. Less than that and the motor stalls.
The 3 quick setting buttons give you quick access to a high, medium and low speed range which is very convenient.
I don't know how long this setup will last before it fails. I really like the convenience of a wireless setup. It is nice not to have the wiring to deal with. The speed range is good (not great), especially considering the price of the remote LED dimmer.

Hmmmm, they could use the stand even without a motor, right? Turning the rod by hand? It would be tedious probably, but then it would be up to them if they want to spend the extra money for a motor and controller.

No, this stand is specifically for using a motor with it. My regular wrapping jigs don't require a motor, but there are some times when using a motorized wrapper is handy. It is also useful for putting epoxy on wraps.

i bought a 30 rpm motor the case is small then your should get another one or is mine ok like i said its a 30 rpm thank you for your videos

I'm not sure. The motor size isn't that important as long as it has enough torque and is the right speed to turn your rod the way you want it. I use two motors. One is 200 RPM that I use for applying epoxy and for really long wraps. The other motor is 10 RPM that I use for drying epoxy.

I no longer make these. The cost of the HDPE plastic I used to make them out of got to be too expensive. I have started 3d printing new products to replace the things I used to make and sell, but I haven’t designed a new epoxy application motor setup yet. I will be doing that in time though!

hi, i hope you can answer me even is your old video. I have a question about the power supply. what if i will use a lithuim battery pack of 12V . DO you think im a gonna need a capacitor on this kind of set up?

No capacitor is needed and these motors work just fine on a 12v battery pack. I've run them on a 12v DeWalt lithium cordless tool battery with not problem.
