When in staying the rubber inserts …add a little dish soap to the rubber/plastic they slide right in + when the soap dry is like a little adhesive to keep them secure. Still very easy to remove later. Cheers from a Retired Canadian living in Belize

I also have a 2024 Crosstrek and I bought the Malone roof racks from Bass Pro Shop. We went on a trip and the wind noise was horrible!! Will definitely have to try this out, thanks!

Going to wrap mine tomorrow. I cut the short end of the long hex wrench off, to make a long straight 5mm allen key. Chuck it up in a cordless drill, and removing and installing the bars takes less than 1 minute. Thanks for the video

I would not worry about theft as much as losing the keys or having the locks corrode. You could take the mounts off and just drill out the covers so the allen wrench will always go in. I might try the cord on my square Thule bars, I hear them but they are not too annoying. If possible would buy longer (wider) bars to fit kayaks and canoes better.

Oh, I like that idea! I'm not worried about theft at all but issues with the locks or lost keys are possibilities. I'll have to try that

Hey Jason, nice ride, love the color.

Thanks, Aaron! We're really liking the car so far. We lucked out that the colour was decent. Not many cars around. We had to go to PEI to get this one; nothing around here...

The paracord is the same thing they do to disrupt turbulence on giant factory chimneys.

Cool, I didn't know that. I'm still shocked it worked...

quite the opposite. You have a smooth surface that is facing wind direction. The leading edge has a particular profiles that creates large eddies in its wake. This will cause the large humming sound you heard at certain speeds. By using parachord, you are tripping the boundary layer (and thus any laminar flow) sooner, enducing turbulent layer earlier on, which creates smaller eddies which don't necessarily create such aeroacoustics as without the parachord. This is consider passive control design to reduce the acoustic signature.

How long was that cord that you wrapped? Was is like a bungee chord???
@Handyverse5 ай бұрын
I don't know exactly, but it was a 50' spool and I had lots leftover. It was called Paracord but, yeah, it was stretchy like a bungee cord.

Looks the same as the load bars from Harbor freight for $70
