The fuel pickup is probably rotted off in the tank of the XLT if its below 1/2 tank. Otherwise it needs crank seals....like every xlt.

If u can get the XLT running good it’s a decent water skipper. Mike Reeds will skip good but those older Yamaha’s tend to get the belt wet and sink . In this case duct tape is you’re friend. Tape up all the vents and gaps in the hood. Leo’s sled is pretty much a boat haha. Trust me. I’m from Canada “EH” 🇨🇦 haha 😆

A good trick to firing up the old 2 stroke sleds is pull spark plugs put a couple drops of gas in each cylinder fire right up

Put a small tank that runs two lines down to the front of The slides with a pump and switch. Fill tank with anti freeze and pump it on while racing. We did this for grass drags

That Yamaha 700 is easy to mod. How fast you want to go depends on your wallet. I can just mention Hauck powersports bigbore, their roller secondary, their primary weights, SRX rear cooler, plastic skis for lighter weight, rear suspension weight transfer rods, taller lug track.
