In these situations, Cody, you should immediately contact the state's AG, reach out to the suspect's district senator, inform them that you urgently need to consult with the district attorney's office and a local judge, and then call the county sheriff to assert your authority. Tell them you are a massive media conglomerate who is fine with telling their constituents exactly how productive the sheriff was. This is not about knowing the law; that will get you nowhere. Elected official's careers are on the line when it comes to this stuff, and it is important that we force them to do their jobs.

You're right, it's not about knowing the law, because rule of law has become meaningless unless you are poor and have no power, then you will be subjugated by rule of law, not helped by it. The only thing that matters is whether or not you have the wealth, status, and power to hold elected officials, law enforcement, and judges' feet the fire. Because the ONLY thing most of them care about is preserving their OWN wealth, status, and power. And if you're poor, well you're screwed. The law will not help you any longer in this new era. Not that it ever did.

Considering you grew up in Argos, I'm surprised that you were shocked at the obvious corruption in the Marshall County legal system. Both are unsolved murders in a town that, when you go to the bathroom, your neighbors know if you took a crap or just went pee! A police department that won't accept a stolen property report? So who is responsible for this? The Fire Department? A court service that will not investigate cases? An individual with hundreds of claims in the same town remains unaffected? The uniformed police officers' body language as the vehicle is towed out of the storage unit says a lot... They weren't happy or cooperative. I believe this should be investigated further.

@8:55 I’m a GIS analyst. The place you’re parked is totally fine. Public roads are exactly that, public roads. There should also be at least a 15 ft easement off the road. He didn’t have the right to tell you to leave as long as you were within those boundaries
@shanewhitmer38409 күн бұрын
You might want to check state laws. Here in Indiana the county and state road right of way stops at the edge of the driven path. In other words only the actual road bed is the right of way. Unless more right of way has been granted or sold to the state or county. This is clearly visible on gis maps. Parcels of land, typically farm land that haven't been divided up will not have a right of way beyond the road bed. Almost every parcel that has been subdivided (not like housing subdivisions but simply a large parcel having part divided off) will have a right of way I believe 35' from center of road in the county. You will not be granted your subdivision without unknowingly granting the county a right of way.

I run my own small-time, small-town repair shop. I have seen many others attempt the same business and fail for one simple reason: they go for the immediate cash grab and piss people off, lose customers, and go out of business. I’m not in this only to “make money”, I’m in it to “make a living.” And *making a living* entails doing good work for good people at a fair price. That’s it. Because if you’re in it *just* to make money, and don’t actually care about people, they’ll figure it out eventually. If one of my customers calls me at 10pm when they’re leaving work and their car won’t start at -10°, I will do everything in my power to make sure they get home safely - whether I go jump-start the car, get them a ride and then deal with the car, or give them a ride home myself. It’s a small enough city that I’m not gonna charge them $200 for jump-starting their car. Why? Because they’ll bring it to me for that new battery, or alternator, and other things in the future. And guess what? When I needed a roof on my house, one of my customers said “my son is a roofer, let me talk to him” and I got a new roof for about half of what all my other estimates were - with better workmanship too. As a result, two of my neighbors also ended up getting new roofs from him the next year. That’s supposed to be how this works. Do good work. Be fair. Take care of your fellow man, and they will take care of you. Don’t be a piece of shit like Tristan or his partner-in-crime Ethan. We have enough problems in the world without d-bags like these two making it worse. Also: shame, shame, SHAME on the law enforcement community down there. It should have NEVER taken so much time, or so much effort, by so many people - NONE of whom were in the legal profession - for some guy to return something that was never his. I absolutely hope this makes the news there, and I also hope that there are some changes or reforms to the ways they deal with stolen property beyond having to call in a KZbinr. Just sad. Good on you, Cody. If I had the resources you do, I’d like to think I’d be doing the same thing - helping folks. Great video, 10/10, very entertaining.

Hopefully there's no mechanic's lien on the truck. But if there was, then it's not stolen, and that's why the police are tied up saying it's a civil matter. By calling the police there (3-4 times) Cody racked up a lot of costs all to technically "steal" the truck which Tristan might have a lien on legally. He also posted videos hinting he might have broken traffic laws during the unlawful vigilante pursuit. I am guessing they used a carrot and a stick, threatened to find a bunch of things Tristan hasn't done by the books and confirming they are going to pay off any bills, because they are leaving with the truck one way or another on the second visit. The cost to Cody was cheap for a video, and even fixing up the truck is cheap, especially if he makes a follow up video digging into all the other claims in town? Win-win?

This is the exact reason people hate police. They don't solve common sense issues but will jack you up for fun. This country is going down the shitter because of the judicial cartel.

@@DRIFT_CORE If some piece of garbage decides to steal your car, YOUR insurance goes up. You're then stuck with increased monthly payments for something that wasn't your fault. It's why people don't go through insurance alot of the time. Literally can't afford to use the service you've been paying for when you need it.

Those cops at the end when he finally got the truck were 100% in on this stuff. They were not happy, at all (even after Cody described how he was going to fix up the girl’s truck for her, not a single genuine smile).

I’ve been in a similar situation here in Illinois. A frame repair guy stole my truck and the police were totally unwilling to do anything about it. After a little sleuthing, we ended up intercepting him at a storage unit, where he pulled in drunk after off roading in another customer’s Jeep. Got my truck back (he was hiding it at a sketchy apartment complex) with over $3000 worth of damage and none of the work I paid to get done. At the end of the day, I’m thankful to have my truck back and it’s good to see people fighting to hold scammers like this accountable. The legal system does more to defend criminals than it does to actually help their victims but with enough determination, they can at least be exposed and stopped from screwing over more people. Big thanks to you and your team Cody.
