Hi, I see you have the yellow circle mark on the tyre aligned with the valve stem. I thought that if both red & yellow marks are present then the red takes priority & should be aligned. What's your thoughts on this, thanks.
@TimNummy4 жыл бұрын
That's true, but the red gets lined up with the balance mark on the wheel, not the valve stem. And I wasn't able to find the balance mark on the wheel as not all wheels have them added by the manufacturer.

@@TimNummy The valve hole is drilled at the low spot after an Aluminum wheel is machined. Red dot always goes at valve on aluminum. Ford and Dodge steel "may" have white paint mark at low spot inside wheel, red dot goes there. No white dot on steel, yellow goes to valve.

One problem with the cheap balancer: they need to be calibrated with 20" , 21" , 22" rim to perform ok with the standard car size wheels up to 19". If your cheap balancer is continously asking to add weights , try to calibrate first. If it doesn't help, calibrate with the bigger wheel diameter. Weight over 40g for a cheap balancer is a problem so if it's more, take the wheel on the tyre machine and rotate the tyre 180deg. In some cases I never stick the weights in full in the first attempt. This allows to move the weights if the machine shows an extra weight in a different spot.
@DisabledParkHopper6 жыл бұрын
Hey not sure if anyone else has told you but the orientation of the machine can cause damage to a vehicle in a bay next to it if it throws a wheel wight. turn it ninety degrees and that way if it throws a weight it wont hit a car! Hope it helps! Great video! Thanks

@justanotherdeplorable4 жыл бұрын
This is for the Eagle EB-1040/ EB-1070, but should work with the SBM680. Only calibrate the balancer if there are problems balancing tires (such as chasing weight, etc.) Be careful to follow each step precisely, correctly and accurately. A balanced tire is preferable, but not necessary; so long as there is no physical damage to the rim. Do not use a tire with a bent or damaged rim. Do not attempt to calibrate the balancer with a rim only. You must use a complete tire and rim assembly. 1- Turn the unit on. Mount a medium size (14″ - 15″) tire on the shaft, and enter the three (3) parameters (Distance, Width and Diameter). 2- Press F+C button. Display will show [CAL][CAL]. Hold the D and C buttons until the indicators stop blinking, then release the buttons. 3- Press the START button. The tire will spin. After it stops, the display will read: [Add][100]. Attach a 3.5oz. (100g) weight on the outside of the wheel rim. 4-Press the START button. The tire will spin. After it stops, the display will read: [Add][100]. Attach a 3.5oz. (100g) weight on the inside of the wheel rim. 5- Press the START button, again. The tire will spin a final time. After it stops, the display will read: [End][Cal]. 6- The self-calibration is complete. Turn the machine off, then on again to ensure the data is stored properly. This the most important step. (Self-Calibration values are stored in memory and maintained when the machine is turned off, with storage lasting about 10 years. However Self-Cal may be performed whenever values are in doubt.)

@TimNummy6 жыл бұрын
Well... I went here: www.tirerack.com/content/tirerack/desktop/en/deliver_installation.html typed in my zip code, and picked the first one on the list. It says they charge $35 per tire... so $140 + tax and such to have 4 tires mounted and balanced... for the sake of easy math, call it $1400 for the cost of the machines.. The pay back period is 10 tire changes... if I have 5 cars on the road, I only need to go through 2 sets of tires each to make it worth it. Not to mention the car trailer with 4 tires, my motorcycle, or the favors I can do for friends and family and any unexpected flats.... And that's not even considering the fact that getting tires changed at a shop is almost always a half-day affair, if not a full/multi day process (and in my experience, they almost always end up scratched or missing valve stem caps or whatever which is incredibly frustrating)... so if you factor in either having to take time off work or take an uber/taxi back and forth (or inconvenience friends) and such then payback is even faster. With already having done two sets of tires so far, I'd be surprised if I'm not saving money within a year. All that said, is it really that unreasonable? Especially if I have the space for them next to a lift to make the whole job really quick and easy?
@derwissenskiosk80416 жыл бұрын
