August 12th, 1977 Seattle Center Coliseum Cheap Trick opening for KISS on the... LOVEGUN TOUR. Cheap Trick played this exact same set. It was AWESOME. Their wall of sound is completely unique. Rick's guitar supported by Tom's 12-string bass and an amp set-up with 3 separate amplifiers for the bottom, mids, and highs. Complete the sound with Bun's unmistakable percussion style. Put it together and you have a sound from a 3 piece that fills every void in the house. The cherry on the top is Robin Zander's completely unique singing Style. You never hear an off key or weak note coming out of that man's mouth. Powerful. Rock'n'roll specific. Aggressively male. It's always clear except for the occasional intentionally gravelly emphasis on a particular line in any one song. He sings his songs exactly the same in every single performance. You can depend on Robin 100% to deliver on any one night. You can depend on Cheap Trick to deliver a 100% pure rock and roll performance on any one night. Come on Come on is one of the greatest 2nd songs in Rock and Roll history. It always begins with four really heavy beats on a tomtom drum. I have always loved this song since the moment that I heard it live back in 1977. I am a lifelong dedicated fan of Cheap Trick!!!!

A friend of mine introduced me and my friends to Kiss in about 1975 or 1976 (I would have been about 14). But he said the opening bands were Cheap Trick and the Runaways here at the Forum in Los Angeles Ca. So, we formed a garage band soon after and started learning these songs as well as Sabbath, Aerosmith, Nugent, AC/DC...and on and on!
