Looks real cool man, I just bought a few more bikes and need to move 4 at a time, and looks like this is perfect for us. Thanks for sharing.

Not sure bungee straps would be my choice for holding, but if holds looks good.

I was going to use steel turnbuckles to clamp it in. The bungees were supposed to be just a quick trial but with 3 along top and 2 in each bottom corner it goes in quick and is plenty stout. I think about the only way it would come out would be if I rolled it and at that point being thrown clear would be about the only prayer for the bikes anyways. In a panic stop all the force goes forward to front of bed and its rock solid.

Una de las características que me gustan de la Chevrolet Silverado es el gran espacio que tiene su caja de carga.

Could you provide the measurements for the different lengths of the wood? Thank you

What is the purpose of that extra bit of wood around the third bike's tire?
@billmonroe73282 жыл бұрын
The little tire didnt go far enough in before the forks hit to sit really stable...it wanted to roll back and out.

How long is the bed of your truck?
@billmonroe73282 жыл бұрын
It's 6.5 feet. If you have the really short bed you'd probably need to leave the tailgate down for a full size bike if you wanted to leave both wheels on.

Great idea, it's given me idea for making something similar for a trailer. Just wondering if you've had any damage to the front brakes cut into the wood during the past year?
@billmonroe73283 жыл бұрын
Nope. I made sure the slit was big enough that brake doesnt bend going in, and no issues.

Could you share dimensions for the bike rack?

i guess that in case of an accident, the bungees will not hold back the bikes...

In case of an accident strong enough to move the bikes i dont think I'll care about the bikes.

@@billmonroe7328 but maybe the people behind you care about the flying bikes...

You could use steel turnbuckles to attach the rack to the trunk and then nylon ratchet straps to hold the bikes. That was what I originally planned to do, but the bungees were so secure I didn't feel the need to do so. When I say turnbuckles in the video, this is the sort of thing I mean: Premier Stainless Solutions Open-Body Stainless Steel Hook & Hook 1/4” x 2-3/4” Turnbuckles for Tensioning Cable or Rope, T316 Marine Grade a.co/d/h4CKE6s
