You did many things right in this video. Camera, audio were good. The only thing that gives you a big minus is the negative comments on the Dodge. Sounds to me you wanted to plant seeds for failure no matter what the results were. I have had both trucks Dodge and Ford. I would suggest (since you are the reviewer) keeping personal feelings out of the picture and let the viewers watch. Neither one is great but overall I pick the Dodge. The reason? Looks, power, comfort and towing. The Ford was good too in its own ways.

So I owned both trucks and used them for a period of time to get a personal opinion. I got stranded, wallet assaulted, and trouble out of the dodge, where as the Ford, simply worked. I choose a Tundra any day over both these toilets, but Tundras cost big money, so for the cheap, I'd say it depends on what you are doing with it, as shown in the video. Thanks for the comment

@@GrumpyMonkeyGarage Honestly that 4.7L that Dodge made wasn't a very good motor. They produced quite a bit of power, but they just don't last unless they are babied. On the ford, looked like the trailer was putting too much weight on the hitch. If you had room to move the car back on the trailer a bit more I think that would have greatly improved the handling. I've towed quite a bit with my 97 F-150 extended cab and I found load placement to greatly impact stability.

Entertaining video and I know you hate RAM. I grew up in Ford F150s and i bought Ford's up until 2015. Depending on the model year Ford I had, somtimes I spent more money keeping them running than the monthly payment. I bought a new ram 1500 in 2015 and still driving it. Replaced battery at year seven. Minus airbag recalls, not one single failure at 141000 miles. A truck will last longer just doing basic maintenance regardless of the brand.

Now when it comes to pulling I have to say the 5.4 2V triton is a beast! I still currently own two 1999 Ford Expeditions! I love the first generation! The 4.6 and 5.4 is night and day difference with power and torque! I think the Expedition pulls and tows a lot better than a F150 around the same year! I got over 300,000 miles on one of my 5.4 and it’s still very strong and responsive! Great trucks!

Awesome video, love the realism. Although those are 2 different generations of trucks. The challenge was catered to the dodge. Longer wheel base, larger truck in general. That ford had way too much tongue weight for the shorter wheelbase. I remember doing some towing in a 99 exactly like that one with my dad years ago and that thing never skipped a beat. That wasn’t exactly apples to apples comparison. I know the price you were trying to stay under is why but I’d revisit this challenge with quad cab to quad cab. Makes a world of difference

I worked for a local school district for 35 years. Plowed snow for 30years. Went through 5 trucks four F 350's one GMC 3500. I have to say those Fords were awesome. They sat out in the winter and never failed to start never even in some Brutal winters. Raise that eight foot western no sag the plow just came up. Sit a skid of rock salt in the bed 49 50lb bags nothing did not make a difference in how the truck handled accelerated they were just good trucks. My favorite was a 1992 with a 460 automatic 4 10 axles loved it a true work truck. Pulled Tractors around the district pulled 13,000 pound band trailers all over with them all . The GMC was a 1997 350 auto not sure on the axles and while it was a Good truck my only complaint was the suspension was a little to soft. It didn't haul as good as the Fords and the front would sag when you raised the plow. People said we could crank up the torsion bars, but in my opinion when you buy a work truck it should be ready to work from the factory. Especially if you order it as we did tow and plow package.

Chevy trying to make their heavy duty trucks ride better. They just didn't build them heavy enough. I think they're better now on the newer ones, but late 90s early 2000s not so much. Gold's front end was just a solid axle and leaf springs. Right out of the 50s and 60s kind of thing. Rode horrible, but was tough as nails as you pointed out.

BUT, when you start off a video comparison and stating one is a "giant piece of junk" how can you expect any viewer to respect your opinion when you are already reflecting a bias opinion? We all have brand preferences. We all have had different experiences from one brand to another. I will say my family, and I have four siblings, has had phenomenal success with Mopar brand products. BUT, many other people and families have not. Same goes for Ford and GM. Let me say I am not just commenting for the Dodge bashing either. If this was a GM vs. Ford I would be turned off by the beginning of this video as well. I have owned all of the Big Three and very much respect each one. Each one has made phenomenal strides and constantly keep rising to the occasion when their competitors best them. I shall end this comment with this, it's great we have channels such as this one comparing inexpensive trucks, such as these. I did watch the entire video and in my opinion the video was ended in a respectful manner, minus a couple of bias opinions which I respect an individual's opinion. Keep the videos coming. I subscribed and I will keep watching.

Always have been a big Ford fan but last time around couldn’t afford an F-150 with the equipment I would need so I bought a Ram (I still call them Dodge) the pulling of the thing is amazing. Like a 3/4 ton diesel in the early 2000’s but sadly it still has many of Dodge issues. Windows go down without being told. Needs a top end rebuild at 90k miles. I love it and also realize that it ain’t gonna be with me as long as my Ford and GMC trucks were.

Of course mine needs a new 4.7 because the kid never checked the oil, drove it like he stole it and ran it dry at high rpm. Now of course im torn, do i bolt a hemi in? Or build a 4.7 with hellcat oil pump and raised compression or, do i plop a 318/ 340/ 360 in there with a carb and forget about all the sensors but the oil pressure, coolant temp etc . The dilemma is real! All will bolt in. Not sure but i think the 6.2 will bolt in as well. If i was rich id just buy a ram 3500 with the cummins deisel and manual shift to solve all my issues but alas thats not in the budget

I can tell you from personal experience, my dad drove a 2001 Durango 4.7 2wd 3:55 axle ratio and my mom drove a 4.6L 2003 2wd ford explorer 3:73 axle ratio both we used to tow are 5000lb boat. Both did it well. I will say the Durango out performed the ford. List of engine and drive train repairs needed to keep the 4.6L explorer going. Timing guides wore out at 150k miles, spark plug blow out, intake coolant cross over burst 130k, oil filter adapter leak at 120k miles, transmission failure at 165k miles. Vehicle still runs great today at 199k miles. Durango, engine repairs exhaust manifold bolts broke 135k miles. Transmission was going in an out of lock up at 65-80mph, found faulty TPS sensor at 175k miles. Cam positions sensor at 185k miles. Durango runs great has 187k miles on it. Both have received similar maintenance and care.

After that I’m not a huge fan of the power plant, still very nice just less dependable. The dodges are ruff, and in my area they’re very few survivors. The dodges before these were great minus the cracking failing dash, they did have weak trans. The chevys were great, the Tran were there weak spots.
