*To all beginners looking to buy markers:* Doke has had a lot of experience with markers. He can pretty much make a sketch look decent with whatever cheap markers he is given. The expensive markers may look a little better, but they can't make your fill look substantially better if you just don't have a lot of experience with markers. What I personally did and I suggest you do as well is I bought some cheap markers and started with those. Once I got some experience with markers in general I bought an expensive set designed for sketching. It's better to start out with cheap markers because better markers won't help you get any better. There are certain ways to use a marker to make it last longer and it's better to make some mistakes with cheap markers rather than to ruin a set of nice markers. Also when you're just stating you should worry about things like letter structure instead of the fill (the colors of the letters). You can get good at graffiti for free, all you need is paper and a pencil. You don't need to spend money to be good.

Okay. In my opinion, there's more to take note of when comparing markers. 1. Many people like to use markers in various ways and i think you have to try out many different things to find out what different types of markers are good for. 2. Many artists (even more beginner ones like me) prefer markers that bleed less. 3. Compare blending ability, as many artists prefer to be able to blend markers quite easily, and you can even add in some blending options! (for example colourless blending markers) 4. Keep in mind that cheaper markers come in a more limited supply, and often run out quicker than more expensive ones. :)

I think a big factor is what kind of paper you use, and how quickly the ink will dryout or get used up on the cheap markers. Sometimes I find it best to use cheap markers for minor details but the expensive markers typically always fill better.

Expensive markers are often alcohol-based, and have therefor better drawing-qualities. Water-based markers harm the paper. Also, expensive markers often last longer, whereas cheap markers get empty really quick.

My favorite markers overall are cheap Chinese "TouchFive" markers. I got a set of like 160 colors for about $80 USD on eBay. They aren't perfect of course but for the price they are a steal, and the colors pop. I prefer Prismacolor markers but these cheap Chinese ones are like ~50 cents compared to several dollars per marker.

Here's is a tip if you are a young artist and want to experiment with alcohol based markers buy cheep markers with a chicle and bullet nib you don't need a brush nib right a way learn how to shade and work on your skills and then save up to get expensive I got ohuo markers and they work fine the only thing is I don't have skin tones so the I got a spent a little more to get a good skin tone pack this is the way to go excpeacily if your are not experienced.
