One is cheap... One is expensive... The fake is just a very cheap generic cycling jersey that's got the void logo on it.

I've had great experience with Pearl Izumi jerseys and shorts. I have two midlevel "select" tops that must be 5-7years old now that still look and wears great. Skip the budget PearlIzumi but their "Select" and "Elite" ranges are excellent.

My "go to" jersey is the Rapha Classic jersey. Fit has never changed after 2yrs owning it, still looks/feels brand new. Pockets are perfect! My next fav is Craft Gran Fondo jersey that I bought on sale for like $60, I appreciate the SPF50 fabric. They both have headphone cable ports in the pockets which for me, primarily doing long solo weekend rides is a must.

I think my most expensive short sleeve jersey is been a about 80€. That's give me good value for the money. I just had 2 of Castelli short sleeve jerseys and they both cost about that price. I have watch details about those jerseys and i am very impressed about the quality. I think jerseys last longer than bib shorts because pad loses comfort over time.

Personal most expensive $150 for a team jersey for local club ride. But midrange specialized rbx sport on sale end of season sale $25 is my go to jerseys. But today scored specialized new old stock $22 sL specialized pro summer jersey just like your void one, with reflective bits, and earphone hole in middle pocket for music and zipper pocket on rear with reflective bits for $22. I'm going to buy two more while they are still on discount! Because of the amazing fit and style points.

I've bought the entry level gear which when starting out perform ok for the commute. Since then I usually get my gear through ride to work schemes and I'm now spending a grand every two years. This gets me top quality gear that with commuting start to fade within each scheme. Bib shorts never last that long obz. But the famous Italian brand beginning with "C" fit me great for a 5.11, 105k ex rugby player. Question. Cycling sizes are a farce. Medium would fit a small boy in certain brands, but the brand " P. I." does what it says on the tin. As is large means large.

Hi Chris. Love this content cheap vs expensive. I’ve just got into cycling and trying not to spend too much on clothing and accessories. Managed to get a Castelli jersey for £50 from Sigma Sports which is a tight but comfort fit. I just purchased a DHB flashlight jersey from Wiggle for £50 and the fit is a lot looser and hides my dad bod better. Haven’t used the DHB yet for a ride. Keep up the highly scentific reviews 👍🏻😊 Looking forward to the shorts vid 👍🏻

Hi Chris, having had a break from cycling for a few years ( I did about 15 years of cyclo-cross and mountain biking including 9 solo 24-hour MTB races) I got to say that Endura kit is good for the money but I did purchase some FDX kit a while back and thought it was awesome for the money. Since seeing your vlog I checked out if they were still available and by searching FDX Eagle in E of the Bay I found the Jersey was still available for £15. The fit is nice ( at 15st I am no longer as thin as I used to be LOL ) and there's a little feature at the top of the zip which is quite good to stop it digging into your chin. I will definitely buy another one.

I also have great luck with Pactimo. Last year I was in an accident in which I broke my Femur up near the hip, I am still wearing the the kit to this day. I have shown people the bibs, and they can't even believe it. Substantial rode rash, on me, but the bibs (the jersey also) are in great shape! Buy all mine on sale or receive as gifts. They also have a program once a year ( I think) where they buy old jerseys, donate them, and give you $50.00 USD to buy a new jersey! Great way to get rid of the impostor, Chris! 😉

I buy these kits from wish and find them good value for the money, I think cycling kits are way over priced. If I get 6mths or a year out of the kits from wish I’m happy. I’ve had some of these kits for over a year and they don’t lose colour or disintegrate after 5 washes. I’ve cycled 100 miles in these kits and find I’ve had no issues , saying that I would like an expensive pair of shorts to see if there is a difference that warrants the massive price difference. Cycling in general is a pricey sport to take up and the extortionate prices of kit & equipment makes it almost and elitist sport.

I think there are more examples of very affordable jerseys every recreational cyclist can wear. I found several one on chinese online shopping platforms that looks good, feels good and they are more than affordable. Just look what Rockbros, Rion and X tiger can offer. I can say by myself they are really good and not cost fortune. Cycling is about enjoying and not spending so much money on cycling equipment especially if you can't afford it.

the thing about cheap vs expensive always is How they do top range things, dont expect a chinese top range jersey has the correct fitting measures of Uk or EU ... maybe a cheaper brand like a retail brand has more fit /comfortable jerseys ... but as you say wanna look nice , maybe exclusive, not one of the bunch, well 1 take the risk buy cheap online or 2 pay design and exclusive branding.

The colours of that cheap jersey look awful! I wouldn't wear that outdoors. My jerseys are usually in the 60-80€ range from Löffler, Vaude, Scott and Nakamura(Intersport). To me the important things are: it has to fit really nicely; it has to look good; it should have good back pockets in the right size and at the right place. And on hot summer days it should stay dry as much as possible.

@@chrispritch I disagree that it's both, and this morning's trip to a well known German low cost supermarket chain illustrates it: I've just picked up a men's half-zip top with many of the features you've called out on the premium brand - longer at the back, rear gripper, arm grippers, the stitching doesn't look like it was done by Stevie Wonder, the fabric is 95:5 Polyester/Elastane, plus under arm ventilated areas of 93:7 poly/elastane, plus it's go some reflective detailing. It's not purporting to be an expensive brand it's just simply cheap, but on first inspection appears to be largely comparable to vastly more expensive brands.

@@chrispritch good heavens - civil discourse on KZbin, whatever next!? ;) It's the A one. Didn't have many left - might be from a previous week's offer. I've just done a side-by-side comparison to a knock-off Giant team shirt, a Foska shirt, an Altura shirt, and a Polaris shirt. Now none of those is necessarily 'premium' but certainly Altura is a big brand. The German supermarket shirt is by far the best equipped - the knock-off comes in second! As for fit, well it's more 'club ride' than it is 'pro' peleton, but as most of my riding is either turbo or commute that's not an issue for me - for a racing snake like you, you'd get away with Medium rather than Large at a guess. And breathability - hard to tell after a quick spin on the turbo, but it's certainly felt better than any of the others - which is probably due to the obviously more aerated panel from the chest down. For £10, hard to knock!

You seem to have a placed a good deal of emphasis on how it looks. Will you loose friends, if, what you are wearing, does not conform to your idea of what you believe is acceptable? If you loose friends, because of what you are wearing, do you really desire to have them as friends anyway? Perhaps it is better to focus on fit, function and comfort and leave the vanity at home.
