I've never had $100 vodka, but I've noticed the biggest difference is only how much it tastes like alcohol. More expensive vodka tastes smoother and more like water
@CircularJarl2 жыл бұрын
Drinking vodka room temperature?!? What? If you drink vodka, especially expensive one like Beluga, you HAVE to put it to the freezer for at least 2-3 hours to make it’s texture like a melted wax. It absolutely improves your drinking experience. It offends me as a Russian. My bear is very offended too
@Shadowwind42 жыл бұрын
I’ve never liked cold vodka it’s gotta be drank at room temperature imo
@notlahaan Жыл бұрын
While it's true that drinking vodka at below freezing is much better (surprisingly a lot of people don't know this), and is the right way to do it - when vodkas are room temp, the flaws are much more apparent. When -18C, there's going to be somewhat minute differences between these vodkas, but when at room temp, there's a world of difference.

When I learned the difference between burn and heat, it opened up a whole new world. Don’t hold yourself back from trying new and more pricier bottles. Don’t have to pay $100 but maybe another $20-$40 on top of what you already pay and you might find something really nice and a new favorite.

@@JohnnyDrinks besides smoothness and harshness was there any other distinct difference in taste?
@de_iure2 жыл бұрын
Because it has the same taste. Only difference is potato vs rye vodka. Rye vodka has sweeter taste, and tastes best if it's rectified, but not filtrated. Filtration is worst thing you can do to alcohol.
@d-rockanomaly92436 ай бұрын
@de_iure maybe taste just by itself, but other things like burn and texture, intensity and smoothness can vary. But I think mostly it's the fact that cheap vodkas can get worse and worse if they're cheap enough but good vodka caps out of a certain point. It's not that hard to make really good vodka. I bet Smirnoff versus this expensive vodka would have been a lot closer..

I notice a big difference between bottom and middle shelf vodkas but diminishing returns kick in pretty quickly. My favorite is Luksusowa which is only like $15 for a 750. Neutral flavor great for mixing.
@masterpassword2 Жыл бұрын
Useless "test". Some vodkas do have a distinctive taste and smell but that doesn't mean anything in terms of quality. Since your dad already knows how to identify this particular brand, it's useless to try to test it against something totally different. You can find a cheap vodka that will be too close for him to call out if you actually cared about honest testing.

I got an old bottle of vodka today as a gift and im trying to find more info on it. Its called Troika and its from Yugoslavia. I cant find a date on the bottle except for a red sticker that says gold medal in Llubljana 1976. The bottle has a white fuzzy "hat" on the cap (though its turned brown now) Google doesnt give me much except for one website thats selling the same bottle for 200 British pounds. Can anyone help me identify this? Im trying to decide wether I should keep this safe and hopefully increase its value or taste it.
