When I was a kid they had these braided woven rugs that we had to bring to kindergarten to take a nap with. Those things work amazingly. Search for "braided 3 foot rug" on amazon and switch it to show lowest price first and you should find some for 20 bucks if you dig around for a while. They double as floor mats or mats for your rear storage area.

Pure content, I love it. Lots of product ideas at the end@@@@ (22:48) tie a piece of rope to the end to utilize the full length of the stick for leverage. You can also capture progress in short bursts by taking a wrap around a tree. Push off the tree with your legs like youre doing a power squat and use a whole range of muscles. (24:16) Tie a piece of rope to the very end of the log, sit down with your foot on the stake and do a rowing maneuver to get it in place. (28:33) with the rope still tied to the end you can lift straight up in a squat without your back so bent over and kick a rock under the log to hold tension. These are just some body mechanics to keep in mind. Pulling is generally better than pushing. Pulling more often utilizes your own body weight instead of just your muscles and gives you a wider variety of muscle groups to work with. Also because pulling usually involves a rope you can do all sorts of mechanical advantage combinations and really utilize friction. . 1) As far as things to try in your next video there is a product called the bog out. Its essentially using the tire again as a winch captured by what looks like a rope ladder made from rope and tubular webbing. Anyway its supposedly a very versatile design that can be deployed in minutes and captures the whole tire. I would love to see a review of this out in the field. 2) Another idea: is there an air powered tool that could pull you out if your winch died? Perhaps a pneumatic chainsaw with a winch attachment or something? 3) Do a speed test between: high lift jack, come along, set of pulleys in a bag (snatch blocks and rope: google 9:1 compound MA) 4) Finally, one method thats worked for my 2WD 32,000lbs open diff work truck is to buy the $15 dollar 3,333lb (10k MBS) Harbor Freight ratchet straps and just cut a 2x4 wood plank out in the woods with a chainsaw and strap it to the tire. the 2x4 gives WAY more traction because it is longer and provides larger surface area. Of course it might snap if its wedged in a deep rut, but you could also cut it thicker and maybe use a 4x4... or find a stronger tree like oak, hickory, osage orange, or any other hardwood like birch, ash, or maple. The issue we had is that it works but it might only be a one time use if you dont protect the strap with some cloth to reduce abrasion. Ive only ever done this with duallys. It might not work on a single tire.

Floor mats. Ive never used them with really steep angles but I’ve gotten more than a few front wheel drive cars through ice/snow, mud, sand and loose gravel using just floor mats. A friend of mine had at least 3 pairs of front floor mats in his 1990 Mazda 323 hatchback because they worked so well. The front ones are bigger than the rears and he made a path for the front tires with them.

I would try to find gravel, rocks, branches, and a jack. I always bring 2x4's - 2x6's to keep the jack from sinking in the ground. Jack it up, and put what ever you can find under the tires. A shovel really helps too. Floor mats can help. Do not rush doing this. Beer can help, but don't get too drunk! If your in a mud hole full of water then you need rocks, and gravel. A prayer might help also!
@NickInTimeFilms5 жыл бұрын
Hahaha, now that was some quality entertainment guys, great work! Certainly is interesting to actually put pen and paper theories to the test in the real world. Mechanical leverage can move the earth if you got a big enough stick, but the biggest problem I can see is when you have to lift the branch over your head you lose half the available leverage. If you had a rope tied to the top, you could then pull from the end and at least get the maximum work out of the system. Probably only an extra turn or 2, but maybe enough to overcome the static friction of the vehicle and get unstuck. For instance lets say the log is 14ft, if this was a 10:1 system, 100lbs in gets 1,000lbs out at 14ft. Now when you try to stand the log up you can only reach up to 6ft, you've cut your leverage in half and with a 5:1 you'd have to put in 200lbs just to get the same 1,000lbs out. But hey, now we know, ehh!
@bleepinjeep5 жыл бұрын
alright! you are the math guru to ask... how many snatch blocks would we need to pull a jeep with a rope and our bare hands.? and what method of setup would work best to get the best mechanical advantage? I guess the unknown variable would be how stuck is the jeep??
@NickInTimeFilms5 жыл бұрын
@@bleepinjeep Hmm, well looking up basic snatch block rigging calculators, we can see that the load is evenly distributed between each "line" that is in the system. So, if we wanted to achieve the same 10:1 ratio as the flip flop we would need 10 parts of line, and it looks like 1 less block then the total, so 9 snatch blocks to match. This will give you the same mechanical advantage of pulling 100lbs of line to get 1,000lbs of total pulling force out. Fun part here is if you have 2 people pulling 100lbs each, you've now got 1 ton of force at your disposal. The Block and Tackle looks like a fairly efficient way of doing this since all the blocks are stacked side by side, that way you only need 1 connection point at each end instead of like 5, haha. Could be a fun experiment to try!

Man I got buried in a very big rut one time, almost flopped my TJ on the passenger side it was so deep. Got it out by dropping logs and other dead debris down into the hole to give my tires something to bite on. After lots of back and forth and throttle it finally came out. Lost a good shoe that day somewhere in the mud.
