Glad to see new content in 2022. The intro was great and well edited :D

Hi Jay, great review! Based on your impressions my suspicion is that they did not spend enough time / effort to optimize the speaker - the extremely low price does seem to support this assumption. Most likely it needs the tweeter level dropped, that is a classic beginners mistake for first time horn speaker makers. That would solve the ear bleeding issue, plus fix the lack of bass. Cheers, Janos

I was genuinely considering these last year as an upgrade to my rp500's to work with the Willsenton R8, Jay just saved me alot of money! Thank you lol.
@wa23682 жыл бұрын
The RP500 is an awful jackasspeaker as well like most Klipsch speakers. But, since Klipsch "takes care" of the reviewers, they are not going to say anything negative about it.
@2HatHudders2 жыл бұрын
@@wa2368 it’s actually the better reviewed speaker and more balanced than the RP600.. been listening to audio products plus 20 years, I know what sounds good to my ear..

Hi Jay, nice to see a reviewer that’s prepared to say he doesn’t like a product and do the review anyway. Bad products should be called out. So thanks. I have purchased products from China hifi and I’m happy with my purchases that I’ve made. But these purchases where made only by reading, reviews and watching KZbin videos. Welcome back and I look forwards to more reviews on products from the east. Maybe you could look at why we pay so much more in the west than what locals pay for the same gear in China?

Was a bit hesitant to post a response, but here you go. I actually own these speakers for a year and I am quite happy. There are, however, some issues that can be considered as problems by some. The fact Jay indicates about the lack of base is very true, however, when the (quite crappy) crossover is replaced and an equalizer can be used for the input signal it handles bass very very well and I am quite sure it will go down to 28Hz (or at least enough for me, since I can feel the air and see the cone moving). The problem with mine was that there was some damage to the paint where the horn touches the cabinet, didn't want to go through the hassle of returning it to China so put a layer of olive wood veneer on it, and now they look even better. While the point Jay points out about true horns/compression drivers might be true, I think the solution they went for here works out very well and looks also a LOT better than Klipsch horns in my opinion. The next step will be changing the, probably also shit internal wires to OCC Copper, don't know if it will make a difference, but why not, in the rest of my cables it did.
@Stan_the_Belgian2 жыл бұрын
So it's a decent cabinet, after you reveneered part of it, and the heart of the speaker, the crossover, is cheap crap. Next you can upgrade the drivers...sounds like an expensive speaker if it's that much work to make it sound decent, it's terrible value

Welcome back… Thanks for your honest opinion on this speaker. Not knocking it because it was made in China, but it “looked “ the part and someone may have put out a grand on them only to be disappointed. Not everything coming out of China is not good. Point and case with Denafrips and Halo are producing some great stuff.

Jay, I play KZbin on powered KEF computer speakers. Try it on your TV speakers and using a SPL meter, check the difference between the opening music and your audio. Is the Stradman mixing your audio to see what the maximum value that is possible for music.? And the REL 5 is really pumping.

Looks like another case of a Chinese company making something look the part, but putting little design engineering into the product. Sometimes such misfits can be modified to work fairly well, but usually it's a case of, "if you want to get to there, I wouldn't start from here"......

Sometimes you just gotta ask yourself "Is the juice worth the squeeze?"
@jctai1002 жыл бұрын
Another case? Engineering is China's strong suit if you have any know how of modern manufacturing. Most 'chinese' speakers for their domestic market are voiced for traditional chinese music which is heavily vocal based.

Thanks for the frank discussion Every once in a while throwing a body out the door helps the credibility. The JBL 1600 HDI also has a metal dome tweeter in a horn like wave guide but isn't a horn. These are very nice speakers and your can pick them up fro about $1200 used. The new price just went from $1800 to $2k.

Ommmmmmmm... 28'Hz! Just looking at them tells you 'no way' Maybe they managed to get a flicker on their meter at 28'Hz at minus 60'db ...due to a nearby passing subway train or siezmic tectonic plate resonance

If it’s such a crapshoot from track to track, it might be something to do with resonances getting fired up on certain frequencies. Instead of r&d, looks like their money was spent on appearance.

Had already written off SA speakers after GR Research examination of the SC8B. Poor design, bracing, resonances, bad spectral decay, etc. I dont think they are serious speaker makers. They seem to copy ideas of other speakers but poorly implement them.
