This seems like I promo vs honest review of speaker. You compare to tannoy price n look, but you also give specific pairing equipment for best sound. That cuts off most people that don't want to or can't afford to replace equipment. You also have a restricted room placement/size, which is okay. But, if u are gonna review a budget version of tannoy, then give tannoy or any other speaker of same track record/history a fair review across the board. Is there any value in versatility in equipment? What if someone moves into bigger/smaller space? What if someone can only upgrade one component a year, 2 or 3 years a a time. How do these budget equipment help audiophiles in their long term journey?

Got these speakers. Jay your review is spot on. Big cabinets very well made walnut veneer. Sound is as close to Frank Fazzelli Coherent as can be. I heard Coherent at the TAS show Toronto 2016. These have the same characteristics. I love them. Keepers for sure. As Jay said - these are not for super detailed analytical listening. They sing they flow and boy can they thump, my room is 20x30 feet and they fill the whole room. Highly recommended if Co Axial is your thang

@@crashkdw Break in isn't a myth. Read any audio engineering book to understand what "break-in" is and why it matters. (Floyd Toole, Vance Dickason) Overly simplified, the cone, surround and spider are somewhat stiffer out-of-the box. They reach designed compliance values only after running for a while. One part of this is just a side effect of using glue. The bigger part is simply inherent to the materials used. Paper, cloth, rubber, all of these materials become less stiff (or more compliant) with use. Imagine a brand new shirt. It's simply not as crisp after you've worn it a few times. Similar effect.

Thanks for taking the bold step of acquiring the speakers! Outlining the trials & tribulations, unboxing, etc.was not lost on me! Much appreciated!! BUT!??? This speaker deserves more than a 'summary'. In my view, I wouldn't characterize it as review. I feel that Tujan (?) would've possibly done it justice. He seems more musically passionate & perhaps more credible in set up & pairing with gear. A tube based set up, with a "decent" vinyl front end with good CD player. Maybe, lastly follow up with streaming digital set up, to give it a modern relevancy? Or a seasoned 'old school' audiophile to review it!! Concluding with sound demos!! That would make it relevant to the few music/Phile's that would enjoy a "budget" perspective of Tannoy/Valve, analog system approach. Notwithstanding the "Andy Warhol" aging 'phile scenario, I applaud the effort! If I had the $$$$ to acquire/ship the speakers to Temple Hills, Md USA??? I'd make a go of doing a proper review. Peace!

Two things: #1. I would assume drivers like those would require a long break in period to show their true potential; #2. For the record, Jay stands a clear 2 or 3 notches above Andrew Robinson, in the overall balance of what it means to be a hifi reviewer. After having wasted my time with several of A-Rob's reviews, I finally realized he is not a source of information on the products I'm really interested in, nor does he have a worthwhile perspective aligned with how I analyze things. He has good video production quality, but in every other way Jay/Thujan/Next Best Thing Studio are far superior.
@elvincuevas17273 жыл бұрын
Andrew Robinson is just a salesman. He reviews things in a way that could make a product appealing to a wide portion of the population/audience. Sometimes he reviews things that he might be interested to get at a discounted price and so on... His videos look polished and beautiful and in my opinion his channel could be good as entertainment for lazy people that has nothing better to do. But if you are interested in learning about the product and the technology in them Andrew's channel is not the one to look for... Having said that he measures some of the TVs in his reviews and that is about the best I can get from his channel. I like measurements as a refence point. He does not measure anything else, only TV or maybe projectors but nothing in the audio stuff...
