This is cool lil piece of gear. you also explained very simply what 500 series units were. THANK YOU! I'm rather new and don't have that much experience so little pieces of information like that really help when you don't have anyone to ask!

Would have loved to hear cleaner, less distorted tracks on this. Have you tried this on something that doesn't already sound "muddy" or "high-gainy"?
@cylonvoiceguy3 жыл бұрын
Totally agree with this

Both the hrk studer eq's and diode compressors I bought were unuseable as stereo pairs - even though they were bought as matched pairs. They were literally way off in terms of volume and settings.

Do they have adjustable trim pots?

Hi Adam. On the next stream You need to up the buffer size on the interface, because there are a lot of pops and crackles.
@adamsteelproducer3 жыл бұрын
I didn’t hear a single one- there was the doubling issue at the start which was resolved when people told me about it, but pops and crackles? Can you give me a timestamp?
@Fama03 жыл бұрын
@@adamsteelproducer Maybe they're mistaking the distortion from the color modules for crackle? Or possibly when you toggle the ReaInsert and it makes a small pop sound (probably due to the change in latency compensation). The distortion in the guitars did sound pretty horrible right up until the end where you lowered it enough.
@adamsteelproducer3 жыл бұрын
Yeah but the distortion on the guitars was part of the process, learning that those modules don’t take that kind of level. The rest was analog saturation
@joachimsundgren97243 жыл бұрын
@@adamsteelproducer all the processed tracks were crackling severly like hardclipping on headphones. diyre and ltl modules dont do this, possiblly issues with the hrk modules or gain staging?

It was me driving the Neve modules too hard, they sent me a new revision designed for higher input levels

When I clicked on this video I wasn't expecting to be IN the video. Great video and demo, the song sounds quite huge like that. Was Scott keeping this channel a secret from me? I'll have to catch up on some older videos. I love all of the super nerdy aspects of engineering.

Diyrecordingequipment.com has sold and invented these color modules 4 or 5 yrs ago.

Putting links in your comments makes them go to the spam automatically- and yes DIYRE make them as well, I am aware

Glad you’re enjoying the channel man! I asked Scott for something he was working on as a demo for the gear, this is what he sent me :)

They also exist and also make products.... I wasn't aware of them before buying these modules, but they seem to be different anyway, albeit in the same format

Hi! What a cool vid! I’m thinking of buying the 80’s Tape and the Air Exciter. Do you recommend the 80 Tape? PS there is a stereo HRK that takes just 1 slot of the 500 series rack. Cheers!
@adamsteelproducer3 жыл бұрын
I do like the 80s tape, it's subtle but adds up over a mix. They do a stereo one-slot, but you will need two of each colour module to load into it since the little modules are for a single audio path
