I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for..

I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes...

Hi Bill! The vans are called "combis" and they are very popular and the main means of transport in many places in Michoacan including Patzcuaro, where we are currently staying. We can take it anywhere in town for 10 pesos or to a trip to a neighboring town (like our day trip to Tzintzuntzan) for 25 pesos. Fast and economical! And, yes, we came here because the summer weather is SOOOO wonderful here in the mountains! It reminds us of the things we liked about living in Oregon in the best parts of the year. Lovely sunshine and afternoon thundershowers and cool nights. Surprises have been things like fireflies and so many butterflies and beautiful flowers! We will be back for sure although we are off to check out Oaxaca for this winter since Michoacan gets a little chilly in the winter months...
@BillDallasLewis Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much BlueButterFly, I had never seen that before, I was freaked out. And that sounds so affordable. Yeap I understand chilly winters after living in Guadalajara and visiting Durango in the winter. I hope Oaxaca works out well for you. Best, Bill Oh, thanks for the information

They are also called colectivos, I believe. Recently in Morelia we saw many van-type vehicles with the word colectivo on it. They would pick people up and drop them off on the side of the street.

Thanks Bill for the Morelia experience!!! I wanted to go there, because one of adopted daughters original name is "Morelia" and I've met people from there, too. I well aware it's an economical location and would love to visit there, but years back there was cartel activity in parts of Michoacon.

@@BillDallasLewis This goes back awhile - there had been a huge shoot out along the Hwy. between Guadalajara and Morelia with trucks overturned; then, one cartel took possession of an area south of the Hwy. and people living there in Michoacan were abandoning their homes through a large area. Eventually, the military moved in and returned that area to civilian control but it took them a while to do so. This was maybe over ten years ago, but even today the Jalisco cartel is trying to control the avocado trade, too. I have not experienced the cartel violence traveling; however, I was shocked returning to Acapulco and seeing the issues there - gangs were extorting businesses for protection, etc., and that town is no longer safe as a tourist location. We have experienced road blocks and even local citizens stopping cars to discourage cartel activities - we saw this in Michoacan and Guerrero. I almost fell over laughing at one citizen with a rifle - it was pre-WWI, obviously, and certainly would have no ammo for it today!!

Cartel activity is pretty much limited to the Tierra Caliente are, far away from Morealia.
@dennishassler605 Жыл бұрын
@@llee8325 - I suspect these are the lower laying lands between Morelia and Guadalajara? The problems years back were below that road between these two cities and, also, it was South of the road as well. I know some of the cartel activities were eventually confronted by the federal government; however, many of the residents migrated away from their homes for safety reasons. I remember avoiding that area in my travels. The Federal Gov. seems to protect areas with financial importance and, then, leaves these rural areas as lower priority places - so sad for the people living there. We did take the coastal road and remember roadblocks and activity along that highway in route to Acapulco. Acapulco is also very compromised today due to gang activities there - it had so much charm before the population boom congested the area.
