theres a reason why the cells are soldered together. contact to contact plastic housings like what you have WILL heat up if under +3A load which ebikes normally do 8-30A+ so yes it will geat up, the plastic will melt sparks will fly when bike is in motion rubbing contact to contact oxidation over time all these reasons why you do not want to do what you are doing.

Was there a installing the first freewheel?? That is the removal of the old roller brake. The axle and first freewheel installation??thanks. Tom M

It came with the kit. I'm not sure what the exact name of it is, but I will ask next time I'm at the bike shop.

It’s called a bottom bracket cup….also used where the axle for pedals goes through the bottom bracket to hold ball bearings…
