Never liked Bangkok or any city on earth and at 65 live peacefully in Thailand and am very far away from the now very insane U.S.A. We also have large plants and trees outside our small space but still lovely and wish all the people in Thailand can have a house like mine and get money for food and clothes and live peacefully with their neighbors, When I was in my forties did go to the Palace and saw the Emerald Buddha and now a lot lazier and stay at home and feed the fish and cat and drink some Singha beer and relax though I should exercise Peace

Pat I just love your sarcasm. Yes I've caught the night train to Chang Mia too. The drinks cart with flashing lights and 80s music was great. Wow what a long time to get to Banglumpu. I would have caught the train to Siam and then caught the #15 bus to Khao San Road - still cheap - less than a dollar. In saying that, I walked along Kaho San Road and Soi Rambutri last Thursday. So much is still closed, even some of the major hotels (Ibis Select) remain closed. Most street bars are shut as is the Soi featured in 'The Beach'.

I spent ten day quarantine at Cleff Hospitel for 10 nights and went back two weeks after to roam the hood. It was appealing and maybe you'll cover it one day. As far as Khao San, I never had I interest to venture there in past travels. It looked complicated getting there when I considered a time back. I'm obviously older now and have less interest. Not my scene but one day I might accept it is a right of passage if I got nothing going on Bangkok on next visit.

Took this route at least to Soi 7/1 years ago. 5555 the end especially - good one. As a "I was this year old when I learned this" - Lat Crabang Airport Link Station is easier to pick me up from Amorn (I think) Village in Nong Chok (see previous comment about Min Buri not being the edge of Krung Thep). Not absolutely sure about the Village name, but if my Google Earth skills and estimates are close - 3,000 houses, maybe 10,000 residents, and 1 English speaking Farang when I'm there. Another lame idea for a video - Soi convenience stores (yes, I invested in one at the heretofore mentioned Village) and what a Farang can find inside. As an Expat for nearly 30 years, I was still amazed at the variety.

Brilliant vid again BP. I'd love to take this trip as a day out (and hope to one day) but, after a long flight I'm happy to pay transfer fees to get to my room. After which I can refresh and get ready to take on the city! P.S. I'm no longer a backpacker🙂🙏

Another great video Pat. We took the train and then a taxi last time, about an hour for a few hundred baht. Looks a bit painful after no sleep on two planes and up for 24 hours. Saying that I dropped the bags off at the d&d and went out on the piss. Needs must.

Nice video for those who like to see the scenes of Bangkok But for the backpacker, I'd want to know where to actually pay for the train and bus (and I assume the need for exact change) And if you're off a long international flight think most would spend the few extra $s on the airport rail link all the way to Makkasan or Phaya Thai, and then maybe a bus.

I have taken the bus from the airport to Sukhumvit soi 11 and it got there faster than the toll road taxis. Unfortunately my plane usually lands around midnite while the bus doesnt run and getting off a 24hr flight from the US you just eant to go now instead of waiting around for the busses to start running.
