Yessssss!!!!!! This one is the BEST cheap kalimba on the market (for a flatboard)!!! I still am going to get myself the blue one but to be honest that natural pinewood one is looking really nice..... 🤔

Ha, I almost bought the blue! Both seem quite lovely 😊

All my kalimbas are of the natural wood (minus the acrylic) so I thought I might as well have at least one brightly colored one 🥰 lol

I just ordered a wood, pink, and blue thru your link. For my 3 kids . I could have tried 3 different kinds but decided to go with the same one. My daughter of course wanted a PINK one ;)

As far as I could read from cover page it’s Chinese saying “thumb harp basics” “popular songs”. Made in China sold in the US by $18.99 yet shipping to Japan for another $10.50.

Thank you for the translation! (And identifying the language 😅). So crazy that shipping costs work like that.

It’s that much in the USA because of the tariffs the USA has against China. Though because of Biden the tariffs will disappear and we will be once again over whelmed with China products. That is why I am looking for one that is made in the USA. Thank you so much for the video. It is great of you to do such a review on low cost kalimbas for those of us on a tight budget. Blessings!

Better than shipping to Australia. Over $15

End tines sound good!

Yes, they're great!

I got the wood kalimba from the link. The notes remind me of the sound from a music box. I can record a track of me playing it, and mix with a track of my tongue drum and other instruments, and be my own band. Good times! Thanks for the video and much success.

That sounds amazing! Enjoy ☺️

End tines are really not bad for that price ! Curious of your fun little project :) will you paint it or make a broader tine range kalimba ? Greetings from Europe !
@MusicalMollyKhan3 жыл бұрын
Hello! They really are nice for the price. My secret project - I'm going to try making a chromatic kalimba with sharps and flats on the back side! They're so expensive but don't seem to complicated, so I thought I'd give it a try 😊
@gabrielookami87743 жыл бұрын
@@MusicalMollyKhan that was one of my guesses, great :)! so you ordered two ? or you have ordered tines and Z bracket separately (or maybe DIY) ? can't wait to see the result

If there are little circles mixed in with the language letters, then it is most likely Korean -- if not, then it is probably Chinese language.

Thank you! I feel so ignorant that I don't even know the difference in the script 😅

Hi Molly. I ordered a 17 key kalimba from Amazon. Where can I get tabs for easy songs? Also can you do a video on how to convert piano music to kalimba tabs? that would be helpful for me. thanks! keep your laughs and giggles coming!
@MusicalMollyKhan3 жыл бұрын
I have been wanting to do a video on that! It may be a few weeks from now. For now, just searching "kalimba tabs" and whatever song you'd like will probably get you lots of tabs. The 17 key is the most common 😊

Hi! I have a chromatic kalimba - tines on both sides. Also an array mbira. Something about the sound that’s so cool. :)

That is wonderful! I have a large chromatic kalimba being made for me, I'm so excited 😊

@@MusicalMollyKhan When I'm 64 works great on chromatic - also Fur Elise works. I haven't done much else with it as I prefer the alto and treble kalimba (hugh tracy model). I'm a classical guitarist by training so these little instruments are cool to play with :)

Hello again. I just received my kalimba which is the one you are viewing on this video!! I have a question. Where on piano music is the C4 note? I am trying to use piano music of my son's to create kalimba tabs. I am lost on beginning this. have you done a video of this? if so I would like to watch it. I think this cheap kalimba sounds great to me. thanks for being there.

Hi Frank. I'm no expert, but as I recall from learning piano as a kid, C4 is middle C, so it typically sits in the space between the treble and bass clef staffs (i.e., the upper 5 lines and the lower 5 lines on a line of sheet music). If there's only one set of 5 lines, it'll sit below those lines. It should have a line through it as it's a line note, not a space note. I expect my explanation is terrible, but it's been a while. :) I recommend you Google "middle C on sheet music" and look at the images. It should be clearer if you can actually see it. Hope that helps!

Too funny. You posted this on the same day I posted my kalimba shootout. It must be something in the air. That looks really similar to my personalized kalimba I used in the shootout. I'll bet that seller just buys these kalimbas, paints/personalizes them, and then ups the price. LOL. Side note: it has always amazed me how instrument pricing works. A $40 kalimba is never twice as good as a $20 kalimba (and so on down that rabbit hole).
@MusicalMollyKhan3 жыл бұрын
Oh my gosh, that is funny! I'm off to check it out 😊. And yes, instrument pricing is so interesting - I think there's a basic bar of quality for it to be playable at all, and so improving on that quality always has diminishing returns. My newer harp was twice the price of my other big harp and they both sound just as nice to my ears 😅
