I really appreciate your channel for all the investigation and hard work for improve noise contamination of all kinds.

Midea has really been making some good stuff I've noticed.

@@soundproofguideHey one thing to mention is that this unit doesn't have a compressor, it has an inverter. That's one of the main reasons it's so quiet. Just FYI.
@Brandon-me7sn5 ай бұрын
I stand corrected...it actually does have a compressor. I was under the impression that it was an inverter because I have the portable air conditioner version with inverter too from Midea. And they sound the same. 🤷 Idk how this thing is so quiet. I know the window blocks the noise. But it's still quiet even with it on and window open. U don't even hear the ka-thump thing when the compressor turns on.

I got this unit last year and I love it! Definitely quieter and it allows more natural light to come through the window since the window can close more fully ☺️

I got my first one last summer. Had to build on to an old window (like…REALLY old window) to get it in. Best air conditioner ever. Like…totally changed my space. I had to have it right next to my desk because of space constraints and I could work right next to it. One thing to keep in mind: this thing has a nasty problem for some folks (including me). It seems to develop what looks like mold on the inside fan that blows out the front (and you can’t service it like a traditional window AC…but I figured it out). Believe it or not-it was still worth it even with that problem. That’s how good it is! But I hope they fixed it (I saw that they released new models since I got mine). If this is an issue, it might be a humidity problem so folks can try running the fan without the Air Conditioner regularly. The theory is that the machine is constantly running and condensation develops on the front interior fan such that it never evaporates and that running the fan only (daily) fixes the problem. One could set an automation to make this work. Again: still worth it and might only affect some folks. But man, I wish I had this video when I installed mine. The available videos were sparse! It was so much more efficient at cooling the room (I measured the energy usage) and it was like…you could use this in a library it’s so quiet (like you said…it’s like a fan at most)! The best.

Thanks for all that information! I’ll definitely be on the lookout for mold!

I have a window GE AC that is 8,000 BTU and it's very quiet. Matter of fact, the foot of my bed is right up against the corner of it and I have no issues with it. It's nothing fancy, but works well and is quiet and my electric bill is actually almost half what it was last Summer. And I love that!!!

Does the support bracket come with the AC unit? I'm assuming it does but wanted to make sure.

I have 3 of them and they are A lot better then a normal window ac but at lower speeds they make high frequency noises. I would love to see a test of the GE Profile ClearView Inverter. Depending on the window I think its a better choice and I hear its even more quite than the midea.

Good to know! I’ll add it to the list!

I have one that's about a year and a half old. It only puts out 450 watts unless it is very hot outside (sensor) and then it will go to 850 watts with no way to make it go full power without the high outside temp. My regular Midea is much louder but blows the inverter away as far as cooling and moving air. I think the older ones had a defect in the way they measured temp and pressure making it way under powered with temps outside in the 80's vs 90's ; maybe they fixed it...

Would this work if the windows have aluminum three track storms?

It should but you can always easily return it from Amazon if it doesn’t fit.

I would love something like this instead of using a portable air conditioner but here in Ireland our windows open outwards so I can't have a window air conditioner.

Is there any viewers from Toronto here? This is related to soundproofing but I want to know how do I block the vibrations coming from the streetcar especially when it runs down very fast?? I've been having this issue for almost 2 years and even plexiglass doesn't prevent the sound from entering. Does anyone have any ideas or solutions?

Is that quieter than other U-shaped brands? And what about low-frequencies--those are the ones that kill me--especially the vibrations?
@soundproofguide5 ай бұрын
No vibrations at all but the low hum is a lower frequency noise, just not low enough to cause vibrations if installed correctly.
