Cheapest Way To Start Reloading

You can get into re-loading for CHEAP, but... it isn't the fastest way to do it. Good for when SHTF, or to just try it out.

I started reloading with this loader back in 1970. I loaded thousands of 30/06 back then. I never had a primer go off and even with the scope that comes with it, it make very accurate loads.

Wow! Thousands with this, that is some time. But I agree it does make quality accurate rounds.

Tedious but definitely gets the job done. It's too bad they don't have these available for more calibers. I made one of these in my shop for .38 S&W which I probably shoot no more than 50 rounds a year so something like this would be great for that amount of ammo. But they don't have one available for that caliber. Thanks for sharing!

That is a good point. If you don't shoot a whole lot then this Lee Classic Loader would work great.

LOL there just seems to be something soo wrong with beating in a primer with a hammer. Let alone just beating on your reloads in general. I have never seen one of hose in action. You should have used the dipper. NDR

Haha, true. Something about smashing primers with hammers seems like a bad idea. Although without powder it wouldn't be too exciting with just one primer. I have smashed dozens of primers with hammers just to show people what they do. Just wear your eyes and ears and you will be fine.

Well if you have LOTS of $$ lying around the automatic powder measuring scales are pretty nice, but they start at around $300. I have really liked the Frankford Arsenal DS-750 (link below). It is ~$40 and is very accurate. There are Chinese knock offs that look 100% identical, but I bought one to save some money and it was horribly inaccurate and didn't have the resolution either. So for a scale I would recommend with going with a name brand if you don't get the one I recommend.
