By far, the best video on this topic I've ever seen. Inasmuch as I teach this at a local gallery, I was rather embarrased at the elementary approach I had been taking. Soooo...off I go to rework my notes and samples before class next month. And, Cathy, your style is so similar to mine. Happy, honest, supportive and enthusiastic. I've been concerned that I might be too "peppy", but now that I see it reflected back to me, I'm comfortable and confident once again. Thanks for all you've shared.

I take the staple or the binding off first and work outside. When I do all the pages, I put them in a bunch in a plastic bag for awhile, or overnight. Before they get too dry, I open and close the papers against each other to make interesting lines and textures, then I let them lay out separately for awhile to help get rid of some of the odor.

Excellent tutorial - I'd learned about using Citrasolve in a mixed media class but the teacher didn't know all of your special techniques. I'm eager to see part 2 when it comes out to see how you paint into the papers with alcohol inks. Thanks !!

I got another post. My youngest son is an art student and a great artist and he never gives me positive feedback for my work. Tonight, he told me that he thought my painting was COOL!!!! OMG!!! You don't know how important and wonderful it was to hear that from my well accomplished artist. ; }

Love this......I'm thinking (after watching you use your finger to lift off the text) that I could use a rubberstamp or other object (patterned paper towel, bubble wrap) to lift off some of the ink.....

Hi Sassy, No the Citrosolve she is using is not diluted it is the Lavender Bergamot Fragrance one which is lighter in color, if you look a little closer at the bottle she is using you can see that the label is more of a blue or purple color. Hope this helped you out!

I got the concentrate…should i dilute it or not?

Have you ever tried using Turpentine? Does that work? It too is a solvent (& a lot cheaper).

Tried this today, with citrasolv concentrate and 2013 nat geo magazine. Did not work. Pictures were still recognisable, just a bit splotchy.

I wonder what a similar product would be in Australia
@FraenzEff2 жыл бұрын
Hello ! Very interesting, or, unfortunately rather difficult to find the product in the center of Europe … I wrote to order , or « impossible to receive it in your area » … has been their answer … Is there another similar product to alter magazine pages ? Thanks for a short feedback. Thanks in advance.

Hi Cathy... It turns out that Citra-Solv is not available in Canada. Do you know of any other products that would work the same way? My local art supplies store carries an orange-based solvent... I'll have to give it a try.

I so want to try this. Different videos I've seen on Citra Solv say that it is about $8 or so Im guessing in the US. I've looked for it on line as I haven't been able to find it here in Australia and it's like $60 or so plus postage. Unfortunately a bit too expensive . Does anyone know of any store that stocks it in Australia?
@MySilleSix11 жыл бұрын
About how long does this take? Also are there other products you can use if you can't get the citra solv?

I noticed the concentrate at the front edge of your bench is a lot darker than the bottle you are dripping from. Have you diluted the Citrasolv and if so can you please share the ratio?
