Always good to see a new post from you, Julie. I’m studying my catalogue at present for a small top up shop for fall, and gosh now I’ve GOT to try those three Am. Journey colours! Take care. Susan

I would think that painting on aluminum would mean that you were getting that metallic background to shine through as part of the art otherwise if you’re just covering it with primer, it’s just like a piece of wood or anything else I understand you talked about canvases bouncing, but that’s not really a huge issue. I don’t think I’ve never had a problem with it so what about actually painting on the aluminum for the metallic effect? What does that look like? Or would you have to spray a clear coat to get the paint to adhere?🤔

I wish Julie would do a demo on how to swatch so you get the colors like on the pad in the video (from the intense to the light wash). I keep trying but cannot get the range to show (I get either all intense or all real light.) Frustrating.

Painting on copper (or other metals) is popular. Painting on metals excels at creating enhanced luminosity when you use transparent oil paints.

I attended Joe's watercolor workshop in 2005 and fell in love with Joe, Cheap Joe's Art Stuff, and Boone. You have enriched both my life and my art. I have bought my supplies from you since that workshop and tell my friends to do the same. Thank you for you dedication and determination.

I love using the white, slightly watered down or with a wet brush, over dark watercolor areas to tone it down, or push areas back a bit. It also makes it look a bit ethereal.

Cheap Joe’s: Are you in contact with Frank Francese? If not, please get in touch with him. I took a workshop with him 2 years ago and he was very fond of Joe. Thank you.

Love this video! I was just in Boone 3 weeks ago for Kristy Kutch’s colored pencil workshop and met Meghann and her dad, Joseph. So much fun to see them in this great video. Both wonderful people who took such good care of us. Cheap Joe’s is my favorite place to take a workshop. I’m just sorry I didn’t get to meet Joe, their dad/granddad. What a touching tribute to a one of a kind man. (Hi Meghann! This is Patti from Michigan. We sat across from each other at dinner that week. Thanks for everything!)

I'm new to wc and don't know a whole lot about the medium....yet. What I'd like to know is why would anyone buy a paint that can never ever be reactivated again? If you accidentally squeeze a little too much then you're done. And that would be me :(. I'm not criticizing, this is a legit question. I would just like to understand about this particular paint. Thank you.

For this excellent matting system, I think it would wise consider to Add a Light, very Neutral Grey: Less contrast between the art work and mat might enhance the artwork Best!

I LOVE Cheap Joe’s. I’m a Boone resident and shop at the store regularly. I so appreciate the quality of the supplies, and the care of each staff member. They have always been super helpful and encouraging. Joe was a wonderful and kind man. I miss his smile, his quiet voice, and his unwavering encouragement that, yes, I can do it. Thank you for continuing his vision!
