Thanks for this follow up also! The one I purchased actually came with a pretty heavy load spring so need to change mine. After lubing the entire assembly it's non-squeaky! I did notice that even after compressing the spring as much as I can (the hex hut all the way to the end basically..) I still had a slight amount of deadzone but it's much better than how it came. Keep up the awesome content!

Hey bro how can i use the lubing on my handbrake, could you provide me a detailed YT video?

Man you're the don just got mine absolutely love it 😀 I'd say its at least double the strength feels a lot lot better to feel how hard you're pulling the handbrake mine came with a yellow spring but its definitely a weaker 1 that comes with it it's around 3mm shorter than the stock spring but worth every penny cheers Karl once again

Interesting, I already have a yellow spring in mine. I have the exact same handbrake but from an Amazon seller. It is not as thick or seemingly strong as your replacements but it is definitely beefier then your stock one.

I have same handbrake, but I’m going to use the spare Fanatec CSL loadcell rubbers 65,s I have. Main reason just feels nicer than a spring, just need larger outer diameter washers. Great idea though mate.

Nice, the annoying thing the shipping on that list to Australia is double the cost of the spring. My handbrake dis not squeak like your but there a bit lateral play in the handle. Also default it maxes out at about 75% of the travel
@foaley772 жыл бұрын
Did you find a spring in aus that works?

Hey mate would a 10mm ID, 20mm OD, 35mm or 40mm length spring work? As this one you used has shipping over $30 and I found one in AUS but only has those dimensions

just subbed to you Karl , great content! question about that handbrake , how short does the arm go? and what sort of grease would you use? as thinking of picking one up, cheers
@EricGibson13 жыл бұрын
Well damn. I just checked mine as mine looks similar and mine already has a thick yellow spring. Still feels a little easy. Hmmmm. Might still have to try and see.
@Maddesen2 жыл бұрын
The nut is actually there to provide preload and thereby increasing the required force to compress the spring. Just tighten the nut, squeezing the spring and you've increased stiffness. I'll try out the yellow spring though. What grease did you use as lube to reduce the squeeking?
@KarlGosling2 жыл бұрын
But at the cost of reduced travel mate and it's still not heavy enough, a spring change gives much better results. I had some lithium grease laying around so used that.
@Maddesen2 жыл бұрын
@@KarlGosling true. I did manage to tighten it quite a bit without the travel being impacted, but you're right, tighten it enough and you'll loose travel. It seems though when calibrating these handbrakes that the position of the hall sensor is somewhere in the middle of the travel, meaning that full engagement is somewhere near 60-70% of the fully physically engaged position. So the last 30-40% travel provides no extra rudder signal, as it is already at 100%. I picked up four of the ISO springs yesterday and I agree that it's a much stiffer spring than the stock one. Furthermore I added some finger spring washers at the pivot bolt to reduce play at the base of the handle. They do a much better job than the wave washers it came with. Now time will tell how it'll feels in rallycross. Appreciate the video and input 👍🏻
