I'm glad to hear positive words about Nissan. I have had two Nissan small pickups that lasted well over 200,000 mi with almost no problems at all. Toyota is very popular, but Nissan has its value as well. Nice little setup!

Love Tracy's rig. Has a 4-burner stove and decent sized oven...wow. My 1991 Tioga is unique, I think, because it twin beds in the back and a queen over the cab. I didn't think I would stay with the twin beds and wanted to convert it to queen asap. But, as time went on...the twins have served a great purpose. My grown son lives with me in the rv and sleeps in the bunk over cab. When it gets below freezing at night, he can come sleep in the other twin, dog on the floor between us, and heater nearby...all of us cozy and warm. Also, the other twin has served the purpose of accommodating my daughter(not keen to nomadic lifestyle), who visits with us when possible.

Bob & Tracy, Thanks for sharing. It's amazing the quality of Toyotas & their V6 platform can carry what Americans seem to think only can be hauled by a v10. Thus my reason for getting the V6 rig that I'm hunting for. They hold their value, are quite rare or just difficult to source most of the time. Maintenance is a breeze & very USER FRIENDLY especially if mechanically inclined!

True but don't under estimate the Toyo 4 cyl. I've seen those tow 2 axle trailers for hundreds of thousands of miles, no problem.

My parents had a Sunrader in the mid to late '70's. 4 cylinder Toyota with a 5 speed manual trans. Theirs had a rear entrance so the floorplan was a bit different than this one. It was a great little C. Wish I still had it! Thanks, Bob, enjoyed the video!

Sunrader was made by Gardner Pacific which also made a Sunrader Aero Cruiser wihich is more like a class A motorhome. These had a Dodge one ton drive train.

It’s too bad about that design disappearing. I owned a Toyota based Dolphin from 1985. For the whole time I owned it, the RV press was attacking what they called the Micromini Motorhome. The problem was with the axles and tires. The original axle could flex and break. That was the first problem. The other problem was the tires. It was a dual rear wheel, and it had to have a tire that would support the full weight, basically by maxing out the air pressure manually (after a blowout). There was a very high cost Bridgestone that met the requirements, and if one blew good luck finding a spare. If the inside tire blew, the axle situation was bad. My recollection is the NHTSA recalled the later (maybe '84 on) run of vehicles and they put a floating axle on all the Micro-minis around 1990. I had requested a recall in a letter to NHTSA, but sold the vehicle that year. It was a National RV product, and I had a lot of discussions with them, and a lot of problems. It’s curious that these RV’s are now so beloved. National RV went to Class A’s. Toyota made a 6 cyclinder version of the chassis, briefly, but gave up after the recall. Maybe Nissan filled in, for a while. Now there are 2 huge RV companies, so hard to find a Sunrader type manufacturer. They make a similar RV in Australia. The key is that the bed is over the hood, so the space does double duty. You could cram a small kitchen, some sort of seating, and maybe a sofa into the thing. Weight was a problem. They were maxing out the chassis and the axle design was bad, all those issues. It was a four cyclinder in the 80’s, and people would find that hard to take right now. You have stated correctly...I am restoring an 84/85 Toyota Huntsman mini class c...the rear axle had been replaced as part of the axle recalls in 86/87 otherwise I knew I would have had to replace it...she has the 4cyl 22r motor, 4speed manual...she has had the deuce carb replaced in the last 3 years and needs a tune up but this little gem is absolutely worth putting the work into 😎 I also want to say thank you for the link...I am a member of the Toyota Motorhome Forum the link is from😎

That's beautiful. Fiberglass, small designs, were extremely popular beginning during the 1970s. My Vintage Compact Hunter is 1,300 pounds and has a pop-top, accommodating a 6' 3" person.

I am going to stretch out my perimeter on Craigslist. I've driven 3 Toyota minvans over 200K miles. I've seen the small Toy rvs, albeit with more issues than I wanted to deal with, showing a picture of a tiny C with a tarp on the roof is not promising. The only problem I had was with the 4 cylinder in the mountains, it just did not want to go up those slopes at any speed. Tracy's looks like enough space for my plan. Nice home, Tracy!

KZbinr Wandering Patches has had both 4 & 6 cylinder versions. If you are not in a hurry, the 4 cylinder costs less and is reliable.

Love his sunrader...mine is a 1984/85 Toyota Huntsman mini c, self contained, 20ft bumper to bumper...currently restoring cabin that has minor water damage...she's 4 cyl 22r motor 4speed manual...I am second owner and love her to pieces...June 2020 is goal date for road ready and can't wait😎

That's perfect. Reminds me of those old Toyota Dolphins. I guess this is a Toyota too. I love when the dinette area is in the back cause you have such great views. When they put the bathroom in the back, it's such a waste of all those potential windows. Bob, have you ever done a tour of a hybrid travel trailer? Would love to see a tour of one of those cause I need to get a TT that is light for my SUV to tow and it seems those pop-out beds are what I'm going to have to get. Not my dream but it is what it is and might have to be my next step.

Great video Bob! Thanks for sharing Tracy's Sunrader. I am currently living in a 1990 Toyota Sunrader and was interested in the fact that he was pulling a trailer. How much is he actually towing? I wasn't sure that it could tow much. My Toyota is also the 3.0 liter 6 cylinder.

John Serrano right then I was towing a 4 x 8 Harbor freight trailer with two dirt bikes, a electric bicycle and inflatable kayak plus riding gear. Probably around 1200lbs. I also use it to tow my 15 foot Boston whaler

Mine is currently setup with a bike rack/battery box that I added to increase my battery capabilities. Did you have to install a class I or class II hitch?

I've followed Robert Wells, for a while and even went two days in 2018 RTR. Bob, has become so big now, I don't believe he handles the channel like he once did. I also believed he had no idea the impact he would have on so many people.

Agreed, it keeps getting better and better. With the meteoric growth he can no longer answer questions in the comment area but with his improvements in cameras and microphones and editing (provided by his 'team') he continues to put out a ton of content on a regular basis with consistent quality. He is an excellent executive that knows how to delegate and is not threatened by surrounding himself with people who have skill sets he doesn't possess. And perhaps the most admirable thing about him is he continues to unselfishly give of his time and economic resources to the community. Some people get "uncomfortable" with the fact that he is making some good money from KZbin and he is starting the Non-Profit. They worry that he is somehow leveraging all of this as a scheme to benefit him so he can what?....buy an island in the Carribean and drink pina coladas on the beach, buy a Mansion high in the Rockies so he look down on his subjects? If you have been following Bob then you know he is living his best life doing exactly what he is doing right now (serving mankind) and living in the structure (high top van) and location (where ever he wants to go) that he wants. He "has it all" but he has had it all for a long time. He figured out what he needed and wanted to make him happy and fulfilled and then did it. The recent growth (last 3 yrs) I'm sure have given him more economic security but it's come at a cost. It is harder for him to find the peace, quiet, serenity and solitude of being alone in nature. He has given up a lot of this precious time to lay the foundation of an organization that will multiply his efforts to help others and for that to help to continue when he is gone. It is people like Bob who actually make a difference in keeping America great.

Tracy nice class C. Impressed that the bathroom is so clean for how old, I wonder if it has been updated? There's no yellowing from age. Maybe it just wasn't utilized much before. He was about to name the best-known up-market Albanian RV in public. Big mistake, as it turned out. He got as far as saying 6m 76 long, sleeps three or four in an emergency. More details. Atomic propulsion, which means you can get to Tirana from London in about quarter of an hour. Depends a bit on road conditions, of course. Built-in swimming pool and poolside barbecue are all part of standard package. Log-burning fireplace! I´d better go now. Look at what may have happened to Enver!

I was almost sold on these but it pays to do your homework. Turns out the Nissans can be great if you're mechanically inclined, but the Toyotas a disaster.
