While I was still on active-duty in the Marines (yes, and I’m female) I washed my hair most nights(or days, depending on the enemy’s work schedule), and I have long hair. I rationed 1 liter or my daily allotted 3 liters of water for washing my hair. I’m the type that has to wash her hair everyday. I poured 1/4 over my hair to get it wet, shampoo, use 1/4 to wash shampoo out, then condition, and so on. Then I used the baby wipes you buy at nursing home/older people supply store that they use on people who are bed bound. I shaved my legs using baby lotion and a razor. I shaved my legs and other stuff for health reasons, it’s easier to keep your body clean, and there are a lot of different types of mites, lice, and all that stuff. If I can keep clean and pristine in Iraq, you can do it anywhere.

I think it would've been much more useful and intelligent if we made our governments make solders build houses, grow foods etc, instead of going all over the world to supposedly "being democracy". Imagine trillions of dollars used for actual useful, necessary things like that.

Her screens are a very good design! Her van looks about the same size as most, but she seems to have a lot of room in there. Really interesting. The square walls and roof really help it feel less closed in. Very cool.

Absolutely. No upper cabinets is a game changer. We tend to accumulate more than we need and building space for what you need vs what you have is ideal...IMHO.

I've long wondered about why so many build out their vans/RVs with wood. Why don't more use steel framing which should be lighter -- is cost a factor?

This is the kind of rig I have thought about for myself. Especially using pre-built items but with what I already own, which I could modify and I would have to pay someone to help me build because of health problems I cannot do it all on my own. And I love some of the things I have had for a long time. I would want something very comfortable and pretty to remind me of my nice home. Living where I do now I am not able to make friends like I did when I was raising my children. A group of like minded people who could except me as I am now. Most of my long time friends have passed away. I enjoyed watching both of these videos 👍

I've gotten into the habit of washing my hair once a week, sometime stretch it out two a week and a few days. The key is at night I add a little water and a bit of conditioner (I have curly hair) I braid my hair every night and in the morning take the braids out and my hair is nice and wavy. Also keeping my hair above the shoulders makes it easier to manage. With curly hair shorter the better, less tangles and knots.

Awesome vid Bob and Radar! Very helpful tips. About showering: I'm disabled now but have an extensive mountaineering background. Started hiking with backpacks at age four in the Austrian Alps. We spend weeks above the treeline, without showers, carrying all our supplies as a family unit. My dad was in the military and had an engineering/survivalist mindset. We did little "cat washes" by a river or glacier runoff. Radar is right, depending on your hair type, most of us don't even need daily washes. And for those with dry skin and dry hair it's healthier taking at most, 3 showers/week and washing your hair weekly instead of daily. Yeah, you adapt, you survive, you don't complain. I'm disabled with chronic spinal meningitis, and still see myself living in a van most of the year. But I can't carry water containers so will contemplate a solution for that. Yup, there's an answer somewhere!

I have a similar build-out in a 2015 Promaster 2500. The layout is simple and straight-forward. I am 'stuck' in choosing cabinetry above the kitchen area. Love the solar water heater. I have a Thetford (NIB), an inline hot water shower and 12 volt water pump(s). I have 200 watts of rooftop solar, two 12 volt marine lead acid batteries, and converter with a four stage charger. Winter arrived before I finished, so the build is in limbo. Radar's build encourages me to get back at it! Thanks Bob. You inspire us.

This is the type of vehicle I'm looking at once I hit retirement age. I'm 53 now so still have a few years till I buy however I'm taking everything in and where I work they have drivers with sprinters so I've been in them empty and measured everything from height length width and have started drawing up plans for what I know I want though things get changed and vehicles vary especially over time I'm hoping to be ready to buy the right vehicle and get it built out within the last year or two of working. Your channel is my favorite and your dog has the same markings as my former female dog it almost brings tears to my eyes everytime I see him. Keep on keeping on you are needed and appreciated.

I used to struggle with ‘oily’ hair and finally figured out it was the shampoo for oily hair that was making it so. (And I had very long hair!) I became more aware of chemicals and product and all the plastics used for what we are told we need for our everyday hygiene and switched to a Lush Shampoo bar. I can go a week without needing to wash my hair, but typically wash it every 4 days, depending on daily activities ( heat/sweat/sand, etc.) and the bar lasts me for over a year. No plastic bottle, no unnatural gunk in the waste water, hair is in best shape ever; simple and effective.
