Today we meet Joyce, who was tired of the rain in Portland and longed to travel and live her best life! So she sold her house, bought a short school bus, and hit the road-and has no regrets!! She joined one of our Women Only Caravans and found a community where she was welcomed, embraced and cared for. She is so glad she made this decision and can’t imagine any other life! What about you? Are you ready to live your best life? Follow in Joyce’s footsteps, and you too can love your life!

I have said for at least 15 years, my nursing home will be a camper in the kids back yard. Everytime I see one of these videos, it simply affirms that decision! Thank you for this!

please have a real plan...ive worked in nursing homes since 1980...people end up there for so many reasons, ive witnessed so many improvements but there is a way to go....the problem with them is people are still making huge profits from them.....so no kidding or joking aside, be sure your elderly loved ones are in your plan for end of life and your own self has a plan too!

bonnie a ,,,,,,, I understand. My aunts and grandma worked in nursing homes and would come home and tell us of all the things that went on in there. I know of people who work in our local assisted living homes and nursing homes that treat the elderly with such disrespect it sickens me. I’ve heard of the old and frail that have messed themselves and can’t clean themselves and lay in it all day, heard this from their family members. Sorry, that’s not the way the end of my life’s going to go. But, I’ve got to much life to live now and places I wanna see. So, go take on the day.

It's funny that she calls her living minimalist yet she is in one of the most cluttered vans/buses I have ever seen. And spending 30-35K? Do the math: If she stays in that van for 2 years its equivalent to spending $1,250-$1450 in rent on a two year lease. And that does not include gas, insurance, repairs/maintenance, water & propane purchases to live comfortably and a gym membership to shower unless you elect to shower at a truck stop. Yuck. And what about parking??? Where do you park when you are not at an RTR in the desert where you are safe and no one bothers you? Do you spend time mooching off friends staying on their property or go to an RV park and pay for that??? Or worse wake up every morning in a Walmart parking lot??? Spending 30-35K is like listening to the Gaines team in every episode of "Fixer Upper" when they say any good kitchen renovation costs between 25-35K. That's nuts. Thrifty people (read: those who are smart with their money) know it can be done for sooooo much less if you take the time to smart shop rather than easy. If any of you are really interested in this life watch Bob's newer videos on getting started in a mini van. The life on the road can be done without that ridiculous initial investment. But I bet between the cost of the items listed above (gas, insurance, repairs/maintenance, water, propane, a gym membership) you still are spending $1,000 per month (and that does not include your cell, internet, tv subscriptions, etc). That can get you more than a decent apartment in any suburb in the US. I pay $900 for a small 1 bedroom in MA because I do not live in the city nor do I require top of the line stainless steel appliances. Yes, you may be able to travel in a van than an apartment but you still need money to do that. And I have indoor plumbing!!! Life is a trade off, no matter what road you take. ,

@@gsp49 I guess you are living in some sort of vehicle, too. Why don't you mention repairs or upkeep to that vehicle? And I am glad it works for you but it does not or will not for everyone and it is a lot more taxing than it looks. It also costs more. That is my point. And what about mail? No po box for you? Health insurance? Registration? I just wonder why so many people gloss over these necessities.

Wonderful interview of a truly bright person. She seems to have thought of everything in assembling her home on wheels! I especially like the freedom the car provides as a tow vehicle combined with the relatively good fuel mileage of the entire rig. Plus, even a retired school bus can have warmth and coziness.

Really nice rig she's got there! I've been lusting for a hightop Nissan NV, or a box truck, or a step van, and lately a school bus. Alas, I'll probably have to settle on my SUV. But, that's okay. If it gets me on the road, free from the city, I'm good.

Nice to see a dog professional living in a bus. She said she trains dogs. Yet I think that a dog walker or pet sitter could do the same thing. I also like the breeze guard for dogs to get ventilation. 18:00.. estimates it cost 30 to 35K.
