@@danlevesque5437 kids dont think about that. Chances are it did taste better because we eat with our eyes first. Then food usually tastes better when we didn't make it. Science has studied this. So if you're served cereal by someone else, it tastes better. Also off brand cereal usually doesn't taste as good as name brand. I have tried it myself. I know kids who grew up with no sugar and as adults, they are eating almost all they missed out on.

Brad nailed it! 👏🏻👏🏻 Marshmallow Matey’s were my favorite as a kid - argued with friends that they were better then Lucky Charms. 🤣 There were 5 kids in my family, so we definitely lived on a budget! My dad only got hair cuts from Mom & when we did get to go out to eat he lots of times didn’t order food and just ate whatever us kids had left. Growing up I just thought that’s how he wanted it, but now as an adult realize the sacrifices he made to give his kids the best life he could!

I’m so thankful for how I was raised, too!! We got marshmallow mateys sprinkled on top of plain Cheerios, mom cut all the guys hair (I have 6 brothers), and we always got water when we were out to eat. My dad taught us life could be joyful and great without excessive spending. I’m happy I was the oldest - the younger ones are so spoiled, now! :) p.s. We actually weren’t poor, my dad is just wise with money and gives a lot to the church and missions.

We didn’t have much money when our kids were young but when we mentioned it after the kids were grown they both said they didn’t realize we were broke. All they could remember were the fun times we had. We had lots of picnics instead of McDonald’s, fishing instead of ballgames, and camping instead of amusement parks. I had the same growing up and I didn’t realize until I was grown that we were poor because my parents made our lives fun and memorable. 💞💙

My brothers in Christ how often are y'all going out to eat that you won't get a soda because you want to lessen the bill? It's 2.50 for cryin out loud. $10-12 across a family. If that's the case maybe y'all should've ate out less.

We would go RV camping in the summer when I was a kid. My Dad would make my sister and I share a shower and then only give us one quarter. My brother and each of my parents got their own quarter, so my sister and I asked if we could have our own. Dad said no-- it was still one shower, so we'd just have to be quicker if we wanted to get the soap rinsed off. Mom would hide by the door and slip us an extra quarter on our way to the shower. lol
