Just as a notice for anyone wondering, the checkboxes work fine in game mode but if youre editting values etc, it messes up the aspect ratio so you cant see anything in the window unless youre on desktop mode. It also goes kinda jank when using the steam deck keyboard so id suggest using a bluetooth keyboard app on your phone

i did not get this to work for Elden Ring. eldenring does not want to launch together with Cheat engine, only when i close cheatengine does elden ring start. if i launch Cheat engine seperately(still in the same PFX folder) it will not find Elden Ring

I've never tried cheat engine with elden ring. I've used wemod and stand alone trainers and they work fine.

Yes, that's what I do sometimes too. Sometimes to cheat but sometimes to go back to the state I was at when I deleted the game and lost the save.

Hey man really been a great help for someone to finally know how to cheat engine games on Steam Deck, but quick question how to solve this problem: whenever I open the game Xcom 1 (Windows Mode) it always opened the Cheat Engine first then after I close the Cheat Engine it will Open normally (Game and Cheat Engine) but when I do it on "Gaming Mode" it will just just not run properly. Do I have to Custom Command Arguement or something for it to not do that?

The issues I had with this installer leading to this not working at all: 1. Lutris was not available on initial discover store, so I had to install it via flatpak command 2. When I select the runner as wine, it says it is not installed in my system even after install all proton up Qt dependencies and Lutris left bar options

can you install a game with lutris and select a different runner? you need to troubleshoot where the issue is. it could be lutris. if you can install and run a game, it might be the runner options.

5:05 wine versions of wine-ge-8-25-x86_64 (default) don't show up for me. only options are 1. "Custom (select executable below)" 2. "System (9.0) (default)" 3. "GE-Proton (Latest) 4. "Proton 7.0" 5. "Proton 8.0" 6. "Proton Hotfix" 7. "Proton - Experimental" all this is with protonup-qt and protontricks installed unless theres more steps to get wine versions to display in Lutris not mentioned in video.

Maybe try using another proton. Proton-experimental gets updated a lot and might have broken things.

This is amazing! But is there any way to make the game a priority and launch first and then the cheat engine a bit later? My quacked Elden Ring takes forever to load and the engine/trainer loads first, causing it to not recognize the game. It makes trainers not work too because stand-alone trainers usually want the game to launch first.

this one could really use an update. It worked for a while but recently it stopped. the tinker launcher tries to find some version of proton i don't have access to. I tried downloading proton (i think it asked for 9.0)but it's not in the list at all. so i download all the 9. versions and none work. why is linux so frustrating lol

I don't even use cheat engine on pc games 😅 I use wemod. But for emulators, they come with cheats built in, you can use patches or cheat codes so I don't see a need to use cheat engine on emulators.

To be honest I don't really use cheat engine. I use wemod trainer. So I'm not really sure about it. I only did this tutorial because lots of people can install wemod on steam deck.

I got the same problem! it solve by closing the game as soon it started and then there was a steamtinker pop up saying "try launchin again with other settings" (something like that) i clicked that and then there show up the full window with the game menu configuration like in the video! p.d: it worked for me in Pop_OS

You can change the proton version in the game menu of steam tinker launch. Choose a proton version you have installed.

The method in this video is for steam games. For non-steam games it's actually better because you can just install cheat engine as non-steam game and then move the game folder inside the cheat engine prefix folder to launch the game. This way you don't need to install cheat engine once for every game.

I did this another way with just using Steam Tinker launcher and CE didn't need to install the rest and work fine. I just upgraded my SSD but, now when tried the last setup and this one when I cam in the Tinker launcher I dont have the option for go to HOME and then Steam. There not option to see hidden folders.

@@GrownUpGamingGUG The way I use to install take a lot less then having to install Lutrus, Proton tricks find the prefix etc. I got it to work but, its a little buggy because you have to go back into Game Mode in order for it to start up right. It use to work in both Desktop and Game mode. For me right now it starts up Cheat Engine before the game and the game doesn't load until you close Cheat Engine but, in Game Mode it works like it should. So the steps are: Enabled Developer mode on the Deck settings. Install ProtonUp QT to install Steam Tinker Launcher. Install WINE only. Install Cheat Engine. Once they are installed set the game to use Steam Tinker Launcher. Same step as setting up Steam Tinker Launcher custom command and fork command and find where you have Cheat Engine.exe file was installed. That should work right of the box like it should in both Game Mode and Desktop Mode. In my case I update my SSD to a 2TB SSD and move all my games to a 4TB External SSD (Moved before the upgrade). Which is why I think I had issue of finding the Cheat engine.exe in Steam Tinker Launcher. Its really in this location: /home/deck/.var/app/org.winehq.Wine/data/wine/drive_c/Program Files/Cheat Engine/ Once added, save and play button, that will make it save the setting and then I have to go into Game Mode to use it. You need to assign a proton version to it in compatibility and run the game once so it generates the prefix folder.

left hand side of lutris is a wine option, select manage versions to download different wine versions.

Hello its me again. Hahaha Been playing mHW and using fling trainer with steam tinker launch, then Ive noticed that the menu before the game launches is not working. How to make it work again. Hehehe. Also Its hard for me to choose cheat becoz the menu in the game is flickering. Thants problem number 2 hahaha
