I had some machine glitch where I could only throw ONE flare AND my character "voice" was really high for one mission (I restarted after that). I wouldn't have minded SO much but I always throw ONE flare out of the pod as I walk out so that was the only one :( That was SUCH a horrible day.. next game I hit one of those missions where you have NO shield :(

I find it funny how stuff like this is appreciated in games like GTA Online, cause it's just so ridiculously grindy that most people don't mind skipping the progression. DRG is the opposite, since the core gameplay loop is actually fun and the progression is very satisfying.

I dunno, my three friends found DRG to be far too grindy and dropped it after about a dozen hours. Only getting enough cash for a stat buff after a 20 minute mission kind of sucks. Ideally progression should start out fast and give you lots of stuff to experiment with-more weapons/items means more combos or builds to tinker with and it’d have kept the game from getting stale. It’s really a shame because DRG seems to have a ton of good content, but it’s hard for people with jobs to find the time to access all the unlockables.

​@@JerryLeeHowell2 Of course not, my complaint is that for the amount of time we put in we didn't get many rewards. We're currently loving Gunfire Reborn and have gotten all but a dozen unlocks in around 20 hours. We keep coming back because there's such a variety of things to work with that every run can be different. DRG doesn't dish out new unlocks very fast so a lot of the early missions play out the same way. If you love that, the unlocks are the frosting on top. If you want to mix up your playstyle...you're going to have to grind for the next 3-5 hours (or play a different class, which doesn't share exp and slows down progression further). We've got pretty limited time and the default loadouts didn't really 'click' with us, so we moved on. Haven't got time to work for my fun :P Still think hackers like this are in the wrong though and should limit any cheating to local groups.

@@jaredkohrt5228 If you only want to get the weapons as fast as you could, just join in games that have been going for a long time (20-30 minutes depends on the mission type), you get the full rewards even if it ends in the next 1-2 min.

Hey man, sorry this happened. It's quite rare to encounter cheaters so it's unfortunate it happened to you so early in the game. You can undo the mission rewards by opening the 'Esc' menu, clicking the 'Options' tab, then the 'Save Menu' sub-tab, and finally "Restore save". This will allow you to load an older save The game frequently makes temporary saves after each mission in the event something like this happens, I'd recommend loading the save from right before this mission so you can enjoy the core of progression legitimately. Hope you don't give up on the game because of this, the community is normally fair and friendly!

I've always kept this philosophy. If you're going to cheat that's fine. But do it in singleplayer or coop with your friends. Anyone that isn't privy to it and doesn't have the ability to say no; doesn't deserve to get a game ruined by you. Cheats can be fun in some regards. The only experience I had with a cheater was about 3 months ago. He was able to summon all kinds of bugs and messed with their size and health. One notable thing I remember him doing was spawn about 10 tiny golden bulks all around the map that constantly exploded till he'd despawn them. They didn't break any terrain or generate gold, they didn't even give knockback or do damage. We didn't get any crazy bonuses after the round ended either so there wasn't any real harm done, was actually kind of amusing. He was able to do the same thing at the space rig but these ones actually did do knockback and sent everyone flying all over the place. He seemed pretty chill, sucks there are cheaters who ruin the game for others though, glad you were able to revert the damage done.

i did exactly this a few weeks before the modding update. hosted a server called "many lootbugs :) [mods]" w/ fast lootbugs mod & spawned upto 50 lootbugs around the entire map whenever no one was near me. it did give out more rewards, but not that much more (only got up to 20 000 each on a real long PE survival we accidentally did) since it was so hard to kill the lootbugs (and also because i spawned enemies when i was bored)

Cheating to skip your own grind is one thing. All the upgrades and credits in the world won't make up for gameplay experience and skill gaps, but being able to build your kit how you like might be what keeps you invested to keep playing. only 2 cheat experiences. 1 was a "map despawn" issue where we all just fell through the ground under the map. and when we popped back into existence, we were stuck at the furthest down. Dude then proceeded to bolt, calling us different racial slurs. Another was someone who would mine gold, and it dropped max gold (or i assume max, it was 9,999). we all quit as soon as we saw it happened where he proceeded to call us "Pussies" before i left as well.

The difference is whether someone is doing it publicly or not. I know that if I joined a public BL lobby and suddenly jumped from level 20 to 60 I would be angry that my progression was fucked up. While I do not necessarily condone cheating in DRG, there’s not nearly as much harm if they do this in a solo lobby than a public lobby. In one case they’re just harming their own progression loop, where as here they’re ruining it for everyone else in the lobby too.

I've always been on the side of "im an adult who works 40+ hours a week" and i use mods or cheats from time to time to skip some more tedious aspects of games. I've given people things, and helped as a "guardian angel" without anyone really ever knowing it and it never changes the experience. I've never just flatout fully levelled anyone like this though so that's a bit of a stretch. The moment people know its cheated is when they arent happy. Looks like a decimal hack. The scores on gold mined and minerals mined look like they're inflated by a factor of a thousand. The scores for primary objective and secondary look like they're inflated by one decimal place.

I see your point, friend, yeah the grind can get on your nerves but in a lot of cases the fun comes from that feeling of getting somewhere with the way the game progresses, like in my case: unlocking the stubby smg for engi, my personal favorite class. That felt euphoric knowing i had gotten something new to fuck around using, but in the case of suddenly gaining all of the gold i would ever need?.. that would just feel shitty, y'know? I worked my ass off and got something i found cool only to be given victory on a silver goddamned platter by some guy who just downloaded a cheat client.

Especially back then when there was only like 4 or 5 mission types to accompany the 4 bug types (these numbers may be somewhat exaggerated, it's been a minute.) The gameplay is paramount to the grind but the grind prevents the gameplay, which is where my problems start. Now, if these things were a simple mission unlock I might see it differently. But to have to do the mission, on top of collecting the materials, on top of having the right level, on top of having the right gold, ect ect. It's boring. There was one session I joined where a cheater had maxed out the Nitra. I jokingly suggested we try to complete the mission by only dealing damage with supply drops. We did so for a while, but got bored of it because they took so long to drop in. Fortunately they didn't tamper with gold, xp or other resources for the mission since I only went up a level or two. He bought us some blackout stouts afterwards before heading off.

After playing the game for 3k hours, i can tell you that levels themselves are purely cosmetic. There are legendary players that reset their stats after maxing out characters (before S5) and there are nerds who abused huge leveling glitches between S1 - S2 that would quickly get you to max level with your characters in only a few games. Long story short, if you want to be badass in DRG, dont worry about levels, that comes naturally, worry about leving up your characters evenly, and work towards Hazard 5

Just played with a driller guy using default weapon and cosmedics who went down over and over again on hazard 4. I assumed it was a newbie trying to learn the game so I didn't judge and kept reviving him. After hard carrying him and leaving no dwarf behind I was surprised to see he was a level 25 driller with some good "experience" at rank 33, then I realized rank 33 can be reached by leveling up all 4 dwarfs at once and just shake my head: That's just silly. I tried giving him some tips anyway, like promotion and deep dives but he didn't understand what I was talking about. He just ruined his experience without even learn the game.

I one time loaded into a lobby where everyone was in a gray box filled with cargo crates and the team was getting a shit ton of resources and frameworks. I stayed a bit because I was blue rank 320 and still somehow didnt have anything for my thunderhead so I got something for that and left.

Some of the "cheats" are actually quite fun. Read the lobby description before joining some games, there are Hazard 10 games that are absolutely ridiculous!

Those are mods, not cheats. If you're playing a modded game like that, it's because you want more of a challenge than the base game provides, which I respect the shit out of. This video is not that.

Y'know, I remember the time when a cheater joined my game. i was only about level 27, and I was still a greenbeard. (For context, I'm level 193 ATM.) Anyways, cheater joined, gave everyone like 300 of every mineral in the game, and somehow didn't completely ruin my progression. I got every mod and almost every item in the shop because I had like 2 million credits after that and like 20,000 of each crafting mineral. Honestly, it was quite nice being able to buy any shop item and mod I wanted. Didn't do much for everything else though. Still had fun, still have fun.

Fortunately for me this never happened to me yet in the 250 hours I played. Cheaters like this also killed modding. Ever since update 34.5 went live with modding "support" barely any servers are left that are running mods. And if you host a very light modded game still no one will join your game. Now I play vanilla again haven't touch modded servers for 2 months. Thanks devs. /s

I met one hacker in my 347 hours of play time. Had infinite IW and a special powder broomstick that didn’t need to reload. I asked if bro was hacking and someone else said “yeah, blatantly”. I’m not sure if the hacker themself actually responded but if they did it wasn’t anything notable. We kinda just went on with the mission after that. Might just be the most passive cheater I’ve ever encountered.

Same thing happened to me but it only affected the cheater. Guy gained 10 levels as driller from 1 mission. Some cheaters still have a bit of principle at least.

On the bright side: atleast you didn't hit max promotion, and 1M credits isn't too much after a moderate amount of time in the game. But I fear this is only the beginning, these cheating elves are sure to come in greater number sooner than later

The only time i tolerate cheaters is if they are playing solo or are just fucking around. Not messing with people, not screwing up anyone else's progression/resources unless asked to, and absolutely not making people have invulnerability/unlimited ammo (unless they are afk then I guess it's fine). Im so glad I prefer solo or private matches because hackers are some of the most annoying people out there intentionally or not!

This happened to a friend of mine who'd just gotten the game, and it completely unmotivated him from wanting to play anymore. People that do this should at least be courteous enough to solo missions and not drag other people into it

Then that just means the actual gameplay isn't well designed, isn't well focused, and/or is intentionally designed to dripfeed the player (to be completely honest, and outright cynical) of actual gameplay to unnaturally extend the life of the game. One of the many consequences of everyone and their mother making all these "100s of hours" type games, and mistaking gameplay loop with progression systems.

@@KhanCipher Not true; illegitimizing your progress from the getgo is a really easy way to ruin an experience for someone. It's the fact that you can never say "I did all of the stuff here legit" because someone took that from you, and the fact that games give you progression systems in order to let you explore more options and their benefits more fully. It's more difficult for people to get into things with all the options open from day one regardless of how good the game they're in is; it's not like you'd say that Minecraft's core gameplay loop is bad because you have to go through a progression to get things, and it's not like the majority of people play Creative in minecraft or enjoy it more because everything is there from the getgo. Deep Rock has no incentivization to pay for progress, so they have no reason to set up the progression for anything other than people enjoying progressing itself. That is inherently part of the gameplay loop. Mistaking it for a predatory system designed to frustrate players into bypassing grind (Look at every title with a paid battlepass) is disingenuous

@@Nudgarrobot Getting players to cough up money is just one of the many things these systems can be designed to do, the other very popular use of them is to get you to play that game for longer than you normally would under more normal circumstances. A good way to think about this, take Payday 2. Would you think the game would've lasted anywhere near as long as it is going without the quite frankly pretty grindy xp and 'prestige' system it has? Don't answer it, just think about it.

@@KhanCipher I actually agree with a lot of your points, but I think they're more subjective than objective. I've "beaten" DRG multiple times throughout it's early access and since 1.0 by unlocking everything except a handful of cosmetics. By the time I was at 300 hours, I was done with the progression side of the game. I'm now at 750 hours cuz I just find squashing bugs down in those caves fun. The gameplay loop definitely stands on it's own just fine w/o progression But not every player is going to feel that way. A lot of players need that progression to be engaged. My friend being one of those players, and some leaf lover decided to turn on his cheat table and take that away from him. DRG is designed to ramp up a certain way while you play, with hazard levels and guns unlocking as you go. Being plopped at the end game day one removed what was engaging him. I don't think it's a detriment to the gameplay when he barely experienced the gameplay as intended before becoming a one-dwarf army

So i found a scout lv 1002 on a elite deep dive… But he wasn’t so good … And im playing on ps4 don’t i don’t even know if theres cross-play. I was thinking it was a exploit to lv up. Me and a friend are still lv 40. Postdata :that elite dive is nuts . (Lots of enemy’s,last part is a little more easy, still no shield is hard but preferable to mactera swarm)
