Cheating C-LOG: Put a flat color profile on your DSLR

From what I understand, C Log is not supposed to be a final look so the look of it really shouldn;t matter you just want more info in the frame,.. then you att LUTS to the the Flat image, Am not understanding this correctly?

Putting a flat profile on a camera that shoot video in 8bits or less (like my canon m50)I found doesn't help that much and might even affect footage quality compared to cameras with higher dynamic range. Cheers

Yup, same. The neutral color profile (with a little tweaking) seems to do the best for me about color grading.

@@matangox To be honest it kind of depends on the project. My most recent one was using the factory Strength=0, contrast=0, sat=0, color tone=0 which seems to work pretty well. You should probably play around with the settings some. In theory you could maybe get a little more dynamic range by moving the contrast level to -4 but I haven't done enough testing to figure that out yet. Neutral is definitely the best though of all the ones I've tested. Maybe I'll have project in the futur were I really play with the color profiles.

EOS Utility 3 does not recognize the 5DMkII. Check the utility support for that camera on the Canon website and download EOS Utility 2.

What lens did you shoot the Ice with?

The Ice was shot with a 6Dmk2 and a canon 100mm 2.8 macro used the C-log cheat then color graded it later in post.
