Here's a fun thing I discovered back in the day: Do the flying cars cheat (which makes any cars you hit with your car lose gravity). Then, drive to the train station near CJ's house and gently bump into the train at the station. Then, steal the train (which now no longer has gravity, but is still attached to the tracks). Drive to the north as fast as you can and the train should derail and start flying over toward Las Vegas. If you haven't unlocked that island yet, you'll get the wanted level and helicopters will start attacking you. But the train is immortal, so their attacks are meaningless. Now, start spawning tanks when the helicopters are in front of the train to effectively drop the tanks on them. I would do this for hours back in the day.

What about shortly before that when he was so discombobulated that he thought the voice command for jet mode could be anything not of the form "Go go gadget jet mode!"? I mean, it wasn't definitely that phrasing (although things like "Go go gadget conventional jet!" don't seem as likely), but it obviously wasn't whatever nonsense he shouted like a complete fool. That was a good line, too.

Hi! LA resident here, those pylons you were wondering about are the Watt's Towers. They're a pretty cool art project built by a local man who spent decades creating them back in the 1920's - 50's. They're mostly made of rebar and mosaic tiling, and I honestly recommend a visit if you have time when you are here again (A couple hours is plenty of time to see the whole thing). They're pretty cool example of large scale folk art, and are pretty beloved by Angelenos. Love you guys! I hope you do a live show here sometime!

The "weird pylon pyramid things" are the Watts Towers, created by a random construction worker over about 30 years, starting in the 1920s. The tallest is around 30m. They're made from scrounged scraps of rebar and homemade cement, and decorated with random found objects, like seashells and bottles. When the artist retired and left town, the city tried to have them destroyed, but a group of fans managed to raise enough money to save them. They have since been designated a National Historic Landmark.

@@FnRenner That mostly only applies when your car has useful parts in it lol. County police confirmed they had access to footage from a camera my garbage stolen truck had to have driven under, and that camera was definitely positioned to capture the thief's face (although I guess anyone who commits to stealing a vehicle has probably thought enough to consider covering their face) - but they only have one person who watches footage like that, and a 9 hour window is too hard to watch, as if there's no fast forward function, let alone specialized features that make that job slightly more convenient than fast forward in a lot of normal consumer video software.

I've seen tv and movies. I'm sure they could just start the footage playing and shout "enhance!" a few times to get a perfectly lit, high definition photo where the thief is staring down the barrel of the camera. Catching criminals might reduce crime, and reducing crime might reduce police budgets. Tinfoil hat fully engaged.

Most people don't really "need" cheats in San Andreas, but some don't make the game easier and don't ruin your "too good to need cheats" feeling, and sometimes you're secure enough in your masculinity that you don't mind typing in a code instead of running back to Ammunation or whatever. Even saying "I don't need cheats" in a hard game like Soulsborne is kind of a weird flex?

It's a reference to a British sketch comedy show, "That Mitchell and Webb Look". There was a character called Sir Digby Chicken Ceasar. He would sing it as he ran away from situations he'd caused, and the sequence was filmed on a handycam that the actor (Robert Webb) was holding, pointing at his face. Some of the sketches are on KZbin - worth a look if you like odd British comedies.

In case anyone is wondering about the sirens, we use different sirens for different situations to more effectively "grab traffic's attention." The specifics vary by system, in the one I worked we used the quicker one when in more dense urban areas with lots of traffic or when approaching an intersection. There's a third as well that's is very very quick and used either when driving around or between vehicles with not a lot clearance, passing through an intersection, or telling somone to pull further over so we can get around them.

I remember back when GTA SA came out, you would get respect for knowing cheat codes. Some of my friends were good at timing the activation of the cheat to get full health at the moment CJ would land on the ground after jumping out of a plane. The end result would CJ surviving the fall.

The Jefferson Towers as they're call in game are based on the real life Watts Towers. The real towers located in the Watts neighborhood are "17 interconnected sculptural towers, architectural structures, and individual sculptural features and mosaics" all created and built by Sabato Rodia between 1921 and 1954. They're considered both outsider and naive art. In GTA V, they're called The Rancho Towers.

As a resident of western North Carolina, when Mike mentioned having been in Carolina, my first fought was wondering if it was North or South. They're more different than some people think, especially with how North Carolina has the Mountain Region, Piedmont Region, and the Coastal Region. the skyrim giant glitch is indeed...a glitch. they werent meant to send you into space. the bug was patched by bethesda but then mass complaints and begs for it to return made them patch it back in for people so technically its a bug now turned intentional

I never beat this game because I had too much fun f***ing around with cheats. Super jump, super punch, full health/armor (can only be hurt by falling or explosions), infinite ammo, flying cars, spawn a tank, lock wanted level at 0 stars... I particularly loved driving a taxi, picking up riders, and flying way up into the sky only to jump out and parachute safely down while they fell to their dooms. Also, attaching remote mines to civilians, or even better, if you lock your level at 0 stars, you can load a cop up with them (it'll only spawn up to 30 at a time even with infinite ammo), they'll just ignore you, then you can effectively disintegrate them with the giant explosion!

edit: I wish I could have caught this live. The only reliable way to win the train mission is to kill those guys with the rocket launcher. I kept shouting at the screen USE THE ROCKET LAUNCHER!! X'D I loved this game so much as a child. I would just grab a bike and drive around jumping off the highest thing I could find! I had about 2 pages worth of cheats and to this day, I still listen to the playlist of the k-dust radio!!

The trick to completing 'Wrong Side of the Tracks' is to actually ramp up onto the roof of the train. Just after the first bend there is a ramp section that takes you onto a roof that is the same height as the train. Once on the roof of the train you can deal with the bad men yourself.

Thinking about it, I don't think the Elvis cheat worked. It's just if you die in an area like the Vegas one (which you did), the game spawns NPC civilians from that area when you respawn elsewhere.
